Amazon is seeking an experienced U.S. Indirect Tax Accounting Senior Manager to join its U.S. Indirect Tax Compliance ("ITC") team in Seattle, Washington or Arlington, Virginia. The Amazon Tax Department is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment with the opportunity to work a hybrid arrangement.
The U.S. Indirect Tax Compliance ("ITC") team is expanding to scale with Amazon's growth. ITC is dedicated to ongoing improvements and is seeking a tax professional with experience in indirect tax accounting & controllership
Key job responsibilities
• Prepare and review indirect tax account reconciliations, including identifying and resolving incorrect tax postings
• Partner with Accounting and Finance teams to improve controllership
• Collaborate with data/technology teams on tools to enhance reconciliations and data completeness as well as process improvements
• Prepare and review monthly indirect tax journal entries
• Maintain, enhance, monitor and document controls and processes within the U.S. indirect tax function, including Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) key controls
• Respond to inquiries from internal and external SOX auditors on controls/processes
• Monitor for ACS 450/FAS5 indirect tax contingencies related to compliance
• Review and document process gaps as they relate to the indirect tax function
• Identify and evaluate issues, efficiencies and opportunities related to indirect taxes.
• Implement process improvements that increase controllership
• Promote indirect tax awareness and knowledge including training and liaising with business and tax partners
• Advise on the maintenance of accounting and other systems used for tax reporting purposes and compliance
• Partner cross-functionally within Tax and with other Amazon business groups
• Review/Prepare U.S. indirect tax filings, as needed
• Mentor and develop compliance team members
• On occasion, review U.S. indirect tax filings or other compliance functions

A U.S. Indirect Tax Accounting Senior Manager is responsible for controllership and indirect tax accounting functions for U.S. indirect tax. This role collaborates internally with other tax compliance team members, state & local tax partners, technology & data teams, Accounting/Finance and Amazon businesses.

Basic Qualifications
10+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
10+ years of tax experience with a significant amount of time providing technical guidance experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Logistics, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within a multinational business and either legal or accountancy firm experience
Experience with Oracle Financials and/or Blackline

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
