Job Description:
This requisition is contingent upon L3Harris winning the C-5M Supplemental Depot Capability (SDC) contract.
The anticipated date of Contract Award is February 1, 2024, with an anticipated start date of February 12, 2024.
The location for the performance of this program is Rome, NY. Employee must be located on site.
The Aircraft Liaison Engineer will be a part of a multifunctional team responsible for performing PDMs on C-5M aircraft. Aircraft Liaison Engineer is responsible for the design and approval of repairs for the C-5M aircraft during depot level maintenance. Responsibilities will include liaison support to production and manufacturing for interpretation of engineering designs and drawings, resolutions of problems from production, manufacturing, vendors, planning, quality, or any other sources as required. Additional responsibilities include the design and liaison of aircraft primary and secondary structure utilizing military and commercial design standards, customer specifications and system requirements documents. Other duties as assigned. Candidates must be able to work 1st or when necessary, 2nd shift and weekends.
Essential Functions:
Working from Aircraft SRM, TOs, Maintenance Manuals, drawings, blueprints, sketches, written procedures, planned work orders, technical work orders, work cards and/or any other authorized reference material as required to develop repairs and to assist production in understanding these documents.
Able to develop repairs and obtain approval for non-standard discrepancies.
Comply with written policies and procedures.
Proficient use of company computer systems for work documentation and retrieval of production related documents.
Job Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering is strongly desired. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Experience liaison support for manufacturing and production, including primary and secondary structure, composites and metallics, flight controls, aircraft systems, etc.
Must be familiar with Structural Repair manuals (SRMs), Technical Orders (TOs), and other aircraft maintenance documentation.
Must be able to communicate repairs with other engineers, production, management, and customer as requested.
Basic understanding of sheet metal, machining, and composite manufacturing, and assembly processes
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to read and write the English language.
Available to work overtime, any shift, and weekends as required.
Ability to travel to Waco for initial training.
Must be able to pass pre-employment background, drug, & medical screening, subject to FAA requirements and random substance abuse screening.
Able to use and create 2D AutoCAD to document repairs.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience with C-5M aircraft.
Experience developing repairs for aging aircraft.
Basic understanding of structural analysis.
Basic familiarity with Material Review Board duties and functions.
Ability to use/learn MS Excel, MS Word, TeamCenter, Document Search, and other programs as needed.
Basic understanding of DOD rules and regulation.
Able to multitask.
