What you'll do:
The primary responsibility of Sr. Specialist - Embedded will be to lead the technical development of Embedded Firmware for various product developments with the support of engineering managers by effectively leveraging Agile best practices. In this role,he/she will functionally report to the ES-Americas Head in EIIC and will be responsible for system-level requirements analysis, cost estimation, design reviews and other team development processes. The person will take ownership of building innovation in embedded system architecture for product differentiation. Contribution of this role will bring competitive advantage of EATON products in market.
Success in this position requires the ability to drive and standardize embedded software design and development across business unit, work effectively in a matrixed structure, strong motivation for pursuing project objectives and the ability to learn new techniques and development processes. We are looking for candidates who are able to see the bigger picture; strength in a system-level viewpoint is a must.This position will be based in EIIC,Pune in ES Americas.
Understand top level product requirement and create more detail requirements to meet top level product requirementDefine software architecture to meet customer / product requirementUnderstand hardware circuit - Analog Circuits, Digital Electronics, Embedded hardware circuits and Power ElectronicsEvaluate system performance requirements and model future requirements to identify and mitigate risks. Collaborate with the hardware team to support development and testing.Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deploymentStage work and delegate appropriate aspects of design and implementation to other developers, ensuring compliance with architecture and systems/design requirementsLead and guide complex system interface design activities and lead the resolution of integration issues across multiple engineering disciplinesCollaborate with product owners, functional managers, systems engineering to distill product/system/design requirements/use cases to firmware designs/stories, size stories, developing module & system level code, and unit testsDesign, develop, code, test, and debug system softwareAnalyzing and enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resourcesMentor other engineers and Review code and design
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution required.
• Preferred - Master's Degree in Computer Science/Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution."
• 18 + years of design experience of embedded systems software - RTOS, C, Linux, C++.
• Expertise on Industrial protocols like EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, CAN, SPI
• Exposure to Linux (Driver, Kernel) , API based frameworks or SDK
• Ability to create detail product specification and requirement analysis vis a vis cost trade off
• Experience with model-based design methods and simulation- MATLAB/Simulink
• Knowledge of CAN communication serial data protocols (CAN, CANFD, J1939, Flex Ray) and tools (CANape, CANalyzer, CANopen, etc.)
• Hand on experience in writing Linux kernal mode and user mode Device Drivers: USB (Bulk transfer), I2C, GPIO, SPI, UART, RS-485
• Expert level proficiency in C, C++, C#, design pattern, Object Oriented Analysis and Design, UML, Data Structure & Algorithms, preempting, multithreading, multitasking real-time operating systems, network programming
Skills:
• Demonstrated competency with hardware drivers, embedded applications, networking and related areas primarily using C and C++ as programming languages.
• Demonstrated competency with embedded software development environment and tools for real-time operating systems (RTOS), FreeRTOS, or Embedded Linux
• Demonstrated competency using or designing systems that use network protocols such as Serial, TCP/IP, Ethernet
• Demonstrated competencies creating and implementing virtualized environments for embedded software designs.
• Experience leading technical resources
• Strong understanding of Object Oriented Design (OOD) principles using C++, secure coding and cybersecurity best practices
• Strong understanding of real-time operating system (RTOS) concepts
• Model designs using UML or similar methodologies as appropriate; develop use cases to model real-time systems behavior
• Ability to work effectively in an Agile Scrum (or other iterative development) environment
• Experience with multi-core embedded systems
• Experience using SDLC management tools in a team environment (e.g. Jira,Confluence,Github etc.)
• Knowledge of power systems, switchgear and regulator controls products/applications is an added advantage
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Self-starter with the ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision
