Position Overview
In Autodesk Construction Solutions, we make the tools that enable construction professionals to manage the immensely complex process of designing and building their projects. And by facilitating this process our software helps the industry to build the future of the cities and towns we live in while saving time and money, avoiding repeated work, building more sustainably, and reducing wasted materials -- which can amount to 30% of the material originally delivered to the job site.
You'll be joining the Markups team, which builds the 2D and 3D visualization tools that our users employ to annotate, draw on, and highlight their plan documents. We draw pictures. We also have the satisfaction of exposing our internal APIs to other teams to help them visualize their features. One of the best aspects of working on the Markups team is that in addition to the TypeScript/React/Redux setup we use in the browser, most of our markup's code is actually shared in a Kotlin Multiplatform library that ensures consistency across our platforms. Our engineers enjoy working this way, as it gives everyone the chance to collaborate with engineers on other platforms, and you can help ship features onto platforms you're not familiar with. This is a remote position in Canada/United States.
Responsibilities
This role is Web-focused but also includes developing cross-platform markups features in our shared Kotlin library. You'll split your time between developing our front-end TypeScript/React/Redux application and contributing to that libraryYou'll lead development of some features, which will involve breaking them down into milestones and individual tasks for you and other engineers to tackle and collaborating with Product and Design to settle on specs and a release timelineWe'd love for you to help us imagine how our Web architecture and tooling could grow so that we can expand our markups features into other products already, Web is our strongest and most-used platform, but there's more we can do!
Minimum Qualifications
You'll likely have at least 4 years of experience on Web, and have evidence of your success in developing end-user applications on WebYou love the Web ecosystem and keep aware of useful and interesting tools and topics related to Web development
Preferred Qualifications
System design experience would be very beneficial, as there's a good amount of data flow to manage between the backend, client app, and Kotlin libraryAlthough graphics experience is not required, if you have some (2D or 3D) let us know! We'd love to strengthen the performance and architecture of our graphical libraryWe use TypeScript, React, Redux, and Kotlin on our team, so experience with any of these would be beneficial
