Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best in class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever expanding set of foundational cloud-based services.
The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team can provide you the opportunity to build and operate a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment.
The Application Platform team aims to provide a rich set of services and tools to enable building and deploying of Cloud Services as containerized workloads and manage the entire development and deployment lifecycle. Oracle’s Container Engine for Kubernetes, Oracle Serverless and API Gateway are the flagship offerings from this organization. We are building new services to provide an Oracle Managed Kubernetes, App Development Platform, Application Governance and Compliance services.

What does the position offer?
We’re looking for a Software Engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, cloud native technologies, and highly available services.

You work on a team that owns the design, development, and operations for major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure in the Cloud Native space
In the Application Platform team you would be working on the Managed Kubernetes offering. You would have a chance to build new services from scratch and also scale and operate existing services.
You should be a distributed systems generalist, able to understand broad systems interactions, while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and lower level system interactions.
You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
You would be working on components that include implementing emerging interfaces in the Kubernetes ecosystem and maintaining the Kubernetes Providers for OCI.
Qualifications
General Skills
3-8+ years of experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available, distributed systems.
Strong knowledge of GoLang or Java, Object Oriented Fundamentals and experience with scripting languages such as Python.
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems and distributed systems fundamentals.
Proven track record of understanding and implementation of the microservice design patterns
Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
Strong troubleshooting skills and demonstrated ability to deliver quality code
Experience working on multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus
Excellent analytical skills and willingness to look at alternate paths to a solution
Experience driving technical solutions and mentoring engineers.
Profile of desired experience and expectations
3-8+ years of experience as a Software Developer
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering. A degree in Computer Science would be a big plus
Prior experience with operating and building cloud services would be a big plus
Prior experience in container technology like Docker and container orchestration technology like Kubernetes is a big plus.
Exposure to managing deployments on OCI, Azure, AWS and GCP is a big plus.
Prior DevOps exposure is a plus
Willingness to perform DevOps and support on-call as well.
Should have a bias for action and should be willing to take ownership of a problem and solve it to completion.
Should be willing to take ownership of larger outcomes in design as well service operations

Hiring Range: from $74,800 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
