Overview
This position facilitates operations of the Bank's data center server room facilities. Supports technical installations, processes, and operations within primary and disaster recovery data center server rooms. This position uses a broad perspective to identify solutions to more complex problems and may lead less experienced team members or projects. Maintains, upgrades, and coordinates technology and equipment. Facilitates technical and operational capacity by maximizing physical space. Serves as the main point of contact in coordinating server room activities, ensuring that changes, upgrades, and maintenance occur during non-intrusive times. . This position is onsite at our Data Center in Raleigh, NC and requires on-call participation.
Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance - Designs, implements, and manages the physical placement of technology to maximize floor space, interconnectivity cabling, and power. Recommends plans that support server room needs. Liaises with Corporate Real Estate and other departments within the Bank concerning communication, coordination and planning of server room electrical, HVAC, lighting, fire protection, leak detection, and other building facility needs as appropriate.Space Planning - Ensures data center facilities and server rooms are physically functional and that space is efficiently utilized. Manages the placement of technology and equipment that maximizes floor space. Maintains and updates current schematics or inventories of server room space, including racks, cables, power feeds, hardware, etc.Operations Support - Provides continuous technical support for the data center on routine and complex issues. Interprets internal and external issues and recommends solutions and best practices. Maintains operations including, but not limited to: direct customer and peer interface, vendor management, asset management, operational reliability and predictability, project support, administrative support, shipping and receiving coordination, and audit compliance.Coordination - Serves as the point of contact and coordinator for all site activities. Works closely with data center management and stakeholders on issues, updates, and non-intrusive maintenance windows or server room changes. Provides guidance to less experienced associates.Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Computer hardware and raised floor coordination OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Computer hardware and raised floor coordinationPreferred Area of Experience: Knowledge of Monitoring Systems for the Server Room FacilitySkill(s): Asset management and equipment knowledge of computer room hardware, power, and cooling including working knowledge of cabling or fiber standards, vendors, electrical power balancing, and the ability to use facility tools, Ability to preserve confidentiality of information, Ability to work weekends, evening hours, or extended days as operational needs dictate, Ability to maintain the Server Room Facilities monitoring software systemsAdditional skills:- Ability to participate in 24/7 on-call rotation- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds- Ability to peform work while on a ladder- Experience in a large data center- Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite- Experience in Project Management and ServiceNow considered a plus- Various certifications, such as server plus, certified network cable, and ITIL considered a plus
