About Senior Scientist, Gatorade Sports Science Institute

  Overview

  Founded in 1985, the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) is committed to helping athletes optimize their health and performance through research and education in hydration and nutrition science. As a part of GSSI, the incumbent of this Senior Scientist role will be responsible for representing GSSI and the PepsiCo Global R&D teams with high standards and in accordance with ethical guidelines for human research and conduct

  Responsibilities

  Primary Responsibilities Include:

  Developing novel research questions and designing study protocols that contribute to the broader scientific community specific to youth athlete nutrition and physiology.Working with GSSI staff to execute the lab-based research program at the GSSI at IMG Academy satellite lab.Providing leadership to junior scientists who will be assisting in the day-to-day execution of the lab and field-based research projects including the scheduling of subjects as well as the collection, management, and evaluation of data.Effectively liaising with IMG Academy coaches/staff to translate the science, data, and protocols used to meaningful and usable strategies of value.

  Secondary Responsibilities Include:

  Using experience, creativity, and an innovative approach to develop, test, and periodically refine the athlete-testing protocols conducted within the lab with an emphasis on sports nutrition personalization.Assisting when needed with lab- and field-based testing for the purpose of elite athlete service, pre-dominantly at locations within the US.Collaborating across the wider GSSI team (US and Internationally based colleagues) on research, innovation, service, and education initiatives

  Qualifications

  Master's with 3-4 years of academic or industry experience or, preferably a doctorate (PhD) degree in Exercise Science/Kinesiology/ Sports Nutrition or related discipline with experience in lab (and ideally field-based) research (with 0-1 years post-doc or industry experience)Demonstrable knowledge in the areas of sports nutrition, exercise physiology, hydration, and/or metabolism and application in elite sport.Publishing record with experience producing first authored peer-reviewed research. Three or more years of experience working with athletes/influencers, including youth and elite athletes.Demonstrable experience with sport-related data handling and interpretation. An excellent understanding of statistics relating to exercise science highly preferred. The incumbent must have a pro-active work style, able to multitask, and be flexible to work in a high-performance and ever-changing environment. Flexibility and willingness for travel and occasional work during non-traditional hours (including weekends) (approximately 10-15%).Project management/business management experience preferred.Self-starter with good interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with various personalities and work styles.

  Compensation and Benefits:

  The expected compensation range for this position is between $68,000 - $113,850 based on a full-time schedule.Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salaryBonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 8% of annual salary paid out annually.Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.In addition to salary, PepsiCo offers a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees and their families, subject to elections and eligibility: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Health and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Insurance (Accident, Group Legal, Life), Defined Contribution Retirement Plan.
