  Job Summary

  We're looking for an experienced Senior Scala Engineer who can help to shape strategy for a critical tool that drives profitability for our business.

  This tool with be pivotal in creating customized recommendations for external customers and important internal players impacting large scale business strategy.

  The position serves a leader on a team that solves complex and interesting problems. We follow the SAFE Agile methodology that allows us to have a collaborative and well-structured environment.

  Job Responsibilities

  Lead the development and implementation of high-quality software solutions.

  Manage Redshift and Document DB databases to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.

  Utilize AWS compute services (EC2, EMR) to deploy and manage applications effectively.

  Develop and maintain code primarily in Scala and Bash scripting, with a strong focus on Spark for data processing.

  Design and implement web applications using the Play framework.

  Manage code repositories and version control using Azure Git.

  Oversee the deployment of applications using AWS CodeDeploy, ensuring seamless and error-free releases.

  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features

  Oversees development of software

  Provides advice and recommendations to management on processes and techniques required for improved work operations

  Identifies and resolves business systems issues

  Designs and deploys new applications and enhancements to existing applications

  Measures effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems

  Develops and implements strategies to improve systems

  Monitors and tests system performance

  Oversees the training of junior engineers to improve job skills and work efficiency

  Ability to coach others to execute on complex changes

  Job Qualifications

  Strong technical knowledge. Quickly able to troubleshoot problems and coach others

  Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a lead role.

  Strong experience in Scala, Bash scripting, Spark, and Python.

  Proficient in Redshift, MongoDB, AWS compute services (EC2, EMR, Fargate).

  Expertise in the Play framework and Angular JS.

  Familiarity with Azure Git and AWS CodeDeploy.

  Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.

  Development experience building complex analytical tools

  Good understanding of version control and source code management using Git.

  Prior experience working in an Agile, CI/CD environment.

  Strong analytical and debugging skills
