Job Duties and Responsibilities
As part of the DISH Wireless Roaming Team, this Engineer will join the team of passionate engineers with a start-up spirit to deploy and debug DISH's standalone 5G network. This team focuses on the deployment of our Roaming Services by Nokia, BICS, and roaming partners. This team is an operational team working in a live production environment, utilizing CI/CD operations to test, debug, and deploy solutions live. This is a great opportunity for an individual to step on board a growing and financially strong start-up.
Key Responsibilities:Partner with the Technology Development team and vendors to design solutions of the network functions in a cloud-native environment related to roaming servicesDeploy and support core network functions across a cutting-edge cloud-native standalone 5G networkPartner with vendor personnel at Nokia, BICS, and roaming partners to set up roaming services and features as well as upgradesParticipate in the investigation of innovative 5G technologies to improve the network virtualization infrastructurePossess extensive hands-on experience with the 5G Core nodes and roaming call-flows related to S8HR, N9HR, N26 and N14Ensure that solutions adhere to defined standards and best practices and/or assist in the development of these standards and best practicesLead and mentor other engineers within the team to provide technical guidance and knowledge of the networks in various functional areasAble to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, with strict deadlines, both as an individual contributor and team playerParticipates in knowledge transfer, documentation, and information sharing while staying abreast of new technology/technical areas
Skills, Experience and Requirements
A successful Senior Roaming Services Engineer will have the following:
Bachelor's degree with 7+ years / Master's degree with 5+ years in Telecommunications or Electrical/Computer Engineering7+ years of experience working within the Wireless industry on either the carrier or vendor side of the houseVast experience in implementing, integrating, and deploying solutions related to roaming services (S6a, S8c, S8u)Hands-on experience with 5G core network design and implementation, including how 5G differs in scope and technology from previous generationsDetailed knowledge of SS7, Sigtran, and 5G protocolPlan and define all necessary sets of configurations on STPs, DRA's, and SMS HUB.Testing Mobile Services related to Roaming configuration and provisioningDetail verifications of all Roaming Partners by Dish roaming strategy and guidelinesTroubleshoot SS7 and IP traffic with Dish roaming partners to investigate and resolve network issues that are impacting roaming servicesRecommend process and operational changes to prevent the recurrence of service-affecting issuesTroubleshoot mobile devices experiencing network issues MOC/MTC, registering on roaming partner's networksDocumented work experience in the following core functions: SMF / UPF / AMF / DRA / DEA / HSS/ SEPPGeneral working knowledge in a Cloud Native environment, with technologies such as AWS/GCP/Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, OpenStack, VMWare, KVM, or EKSFamiliar with containers and relevant technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, or AWS/GCP/Oracle Cloud InfrastructureProven work experience in 5G / IMS / LTEGeneral understanding of TCP/IP networking and familiarity with TCP, UDP, SCTP, GTP, RADIUS, Mobile IP, SIP, and Diameter protocolsExperience with Python scripting or any other scripting language (bash, Tcl)Knowledge of Protocol Analysis, Wireshark, NetScout, RADCOM, or other similar toolsSalary Range

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total
compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
