Team / division overview
The Reward team is a central function of the global DWS HR division, and are responsible for supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of the Reward and Compensation strategy for DWS. The team work on multi-faceted strategic and regulatory activities across the Compensation and Reward landscape and are required to work in close cooperation with a number of contacts across HR and Service Providers, as well as senior management across all business lines of DWS and colleagues from Risk, Legal and Communications departments.
This is a new role with primary focus of helping to drive forward development of illiquid compensation structures and responsibility for related CTB deliverables as part of a specialist team within DWS Reward. The role will include the design, governance, and management of bespoke reward products, including carried interest (including shadow plans) and co-investment structures and fund-linked deferred compensation plans alongside the more broader reward concepts.
The role owner will work closely with a variety of stakeholders on all Reward topics including the COO office for the Investment Division and the Global Head of Alternatives to understand the commercial issues and market pressures facing the business. The role will also involve close collaboration with Product Development teams and senior stakeholders across all DWS control functions.
Role Details
As a Senior HR Product Specialist you will:
Manage the DWS compensation frameworks for the various Illiquid compensation products, ensuring the terms remain competitive, aligned with business/DWS Group strategy and compliant with relevant tax, legal and regulatory requirements
Review business proposals for new Illiquid compensation products with the COO office for the Investment Division and support with submissions for approval to the DWS Compensation Committee
Work closely with members of the DWS Compensation Operating Committee to ensure technical and operational viability of all Illiquid reward products and present proposals to the Committee for formal approval
Support the Reward Delivery team with administration and operational aspects of all Illiquid reward products (set-up/ tracking/ reporting/ distributions/ employee communications)
Co-leading the annual calendar for Illiquid reward products, working with multiple stakeholders to determine year-end awards and ensuring appropriate approvals and governance checks are obtained and managed in line with Key Operating Procedures (KOPs)
Working with external advisors (tax, legal, reward consultants) as required/ building external networks/ relationships within the alternative asset management HR/ Reward community
Support on external market practice relating to Illiquid benchmarking reviews
Collaborating closely with wider Reward team on wider DWS Group initiatives and change management projects.
We are looking for
An experienced reward professional with specific focus on alternative/illiquid compensation frameworks/reward strategies and products, including carried interest, co-investment and fund-linked deferred comp
Solid understanding of associated technical issues including tax, legal, regulatory (i.e. compensation regulations under AIFMD, IFR, IFPR) and ability to spot and flag potential issues
Strong operational experience with a good understanding of the downstream governance and related policy/control considerations, applicable to reward products and deferred compensation plans
Strategic and analytical mindset - able to balance commercial and technical considerations and find workable solutions, whilst clearly communicating potential benefits, costs, and risks to senior decision-makers
Confident and clear presentation skills - able to clearly summarize topics at senior management/committee meetings and seek consensus
Excellent stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to influence a wide range of decision-makers
Able to work across regional and functional boundaries and across all levels within the organization. Strong team player, with proven ability to drive results both collaboratively and independently.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $135,000 to $180,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration
