*Valvoline Global Operations Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY. We are open to candidates working in a remote capacity in other states, but willing to visit HQs as needed.
How You’ll Make an Impact
The Senior Regulatory Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice and guidance relating to product regulatory and compliance matters on a company wide basis. This role will involve proactive legal research and analysis on existing, new and proposed regulatory developments and laws, as well as the development and implementation of strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. . In the role, you will be responsible for:
Serving as a trusted expert partner to Valvoline leadership while assisting with the development and implementation of strategies to ensure VGO’s product regulatory compliance with government regulations. Advising business stakeholders and management on product compliance risk and providing counsel to avoid or mitigate product compliance risk.
Professional knowledge in field. Developing advanced concepts, techniques and standards. Providing sound, practical legal advice and guidance on a wide range of product regulatory requirements and developments; industry trends, reviews, drafts and provides legal review and counsel pertaining to policies, processes, agreements, disclosures, forms and other materials, primarily directed to internal and external stakeholders; identifies opportunities and develops practical solutions to enhance the company’s product regulatory compliance while mitigating potential risks.
Assisting with the design, development and implementation of policies, procedures and standards for VGO’s operating and procurement procedures and to proactively manage legal risk. Support departments/functions regarding product development, product quality and regulatory issues including government inquiries relating to regulatory compliance and/or product quality, collaborates with other departments/functions and external parties frequently in order to assess and mitigate risk. Evaluates claims to be used on product labels/literature as well as effectively supporting the business units from around the world in supporting the product regulatory function. Advises EHS and other teams on various risk management workstreams
Making complex decisions interpreting applicable regulatory laws, in order to meet organizational objectives. Planning and conducting assignments generally. Develops solutions to complex problems and ensures solutions are effective in meeting organizational objectives.
Developing and providing training to employees on product regulatory and other legal matters as needed. Other duties and responsibilities as determined by the Senior Group Counsel from time to time in its sole discretion
What You’ll Need
Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited university required.
Minimum 5 years’ experience as lawyer specializing in regulatory matters (in house, in a governmental agency, or in private practice).
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local product regulatory requirements, with an emphasis on those pertaining to consumers and businesses.
Understanding of REACH, California Proposition 65 and emerging chemicals.
Excellent communication, both written and oral, drafting and negotiation skills.
Timely decision making, offering practical business sound solutions. Solutions and customer oriented
