Summary / Role Purpose
The Senior R&D Documentation Specialist writes, edits, and creates a variety of innovative documentation, training, and digital platform contents. They determine the best way to organize and deliver information, write, and revise content for applications or services, and review content for technical accuracy, consistency, and style. This role requires effective planning, scheduling, research, writing, and editing skills. The Senior Documentation Specialist participates as a member of agile development teams, keeping informed of product development activities to determine the need for new content and as well as revisions, corrections, and changes in previously released materials.
Ansys is launching an innovative new solution for embedded systems, Scade One; come and join us in a new era of model-based software development within our SMP unit. You will contribute largely to the successful usage of our tools that are used throughout the industry to make sure that cars, airplanes, and other complex systems are safe and secure in an ever-changing world by applying industry standards such as ISO 26262, DO-178C , IEC 61508, or EN 50128.
This position is open either to an experienced documentation specialist with a solid technical background in software development ecosystem or to an application engineer's profile with experience in particular in embedded systems and willing to contribute to customer support through user-oriented material related to our new software solution.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Determines audience needs to create user documentation, tutorials, training material, and videos
• Updates and revises previously released documentation
• Attains a high level of knowledge about the software, documentation tools, processes, and publishing procedures
• Works closely with development teams and experts to implement technological requirements for Ansys documentation
• Builds coalitions and works effectively in fast-paced, dynamic team environments, contributing actively to the development of various contents for a user community.
• Requires minimal supervision
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
• For a documentation specialist profile, BS/MS in Technical Writing, Technical Communication, or English/Linguistics with 5 years' experience in technical writing
• For an application engineer's profile, BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering with 5 years' experience in supporting/deploying software solutions for embedded systems
• Familiarity with the concepts of documentation authoring, common project management software, version control, structured documentation, user-centered design processes, agile development, as well as build tools
• Experience determining the best method in which to present information and then creating the appropriate output(s), such as topic-based help, videos, tutorials, graphics, and interactive learning systems
• Fluency in English, along with excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Some knowledge of French appreciated for team work
• Skilled at gathering and analyzing technical and product information from various sources, paying close attention to detail
• Proven experience developing user-centric documentation in the software industry ensuring a high level of quality, consistency, and accuracy
• Proficiency (documentation specialist profile) or readiness to get intensively trained (engineer's profile) on oXygen tooling (XML Editor, XML WebHelp, Content Fusion) for DITA-structured or documentation development
• Familiarity with Git environments (issues, PRs, branching, reviewing process) ideally with GitHub. Some experience working in a CI/CD environment is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
• Experience with FrameMaker (structured or unstructured), PDF publication, as well as MathML or LaTex editing is a plus.
• Experience with Docs-as-code model, with some experience writing in Markdown and tools such as Sphinx
• Experienced with the development of pedagogical material for customer training or technical knowledge in software development tools and languages like C, C#, Python
• Familiarity with Modeling Languages such as UML or SysML
