About this job
The Project Manager role is responsible for delivering results that meet project objectives within expected timelines. He/she leads project teams to define project objectives and recommend courses of action. The project manager documents project plans, completes project tasks and creates project updates to communicate with stakeholders and the senior management team.
What you will do
Manages complex initiatives & projects through all phases of project life cycle, with direct accountability to sponsors, to ensure achievement of the intended business results within approved timeline and budgetPartners with senior leaders on CAF and Home Office teams to understand strategic objectives, cross-functional dependencies, risks, and performance measuresResearch, evaluate and recommend appropriate course of action to achieve project objectives and to resolve issues identified along the wayAssigns, prioritizes and manages work of cross functional project teams as well as outside entities, setting expectations, providing feedback, and addressing conflicts as neededCoordinates decision making between senior business leaders and facilitates necessary meetings to address issues and concernsClearly communicates project plan, status updates, pilot results, outcomes to sponsor and other stakeholders through presentations, reports, and discussionsProvide support as needed to drive the decision making process amongst stakeholdersConduct working sessions to keep projects on trackComplete moderate to extensive data and information analysisDevelop the knowledge necessary to represent CAF as a subject matter expert during various IT initiativesProvide training, mentorship, and consultative support to project team members, other Project Managers, and resources across the organization
Purpose of the role
The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation and sustainment of new processes or process changes from continuous improvement events or other initiatives. The Project Manager will work with business and store leaders across all functional areas, leading project teams and providing consultative support as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
7+ years experience managing projects of increasing scope and complexityB.A./B.S. from a 4-year college or university required; graduate degree preferredProfessional project management certification or change management certification a plus Experience with Lean/Six Sigma projects and Change initiatives strongly preferredProven business acumen and general management awarenessStrong understanding of the CarMax BusinessAbility to convert high-level business objectives into actionable tasksDemonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple complex/cross-functional projects in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environmentMust have excellent organization skills and ability to work independentlyStrong judgment and independent decision-making skillsStrong courageous leadership skills that provide the ability to:Provide and champion big picture visionChallenge upward appropriately in the best interest of the companyProvide clarity on objectives to project team through well thought out plansMentor others and provide constructive feedbackStrong teamwork skills that provide the ability to:Build and maintain positive relationshipsWork through obstacles and conflicts to negotiate win/win solutions
Work Location And Arrangement: This role will be based out of Atlanta, GA CarMax Auto Finance Office and have a Hybrid work arrangement.
