Senior Project Engineer, 2nd Shift, Kohler Energy
Location: Kohler Power Systems – Mosel, WI N7650 County Road Y, Sheboygan, WI 53083
2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 2:30-10:30pm one site CST with occasional Saturdays
Opportunity
As a Senior Project Engineer within the Metal Processing Center (MPC) with Kohler Power Systems (KPS), this is your unique opportunity to set your mark and live on the leading edge. Under the direction of the Manager of the Metal Processing Center; the Senior Project Engineer is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing projects related to the fabrication of metal components used in building generators in the Mosel, Wisconsin KPS facility.
Specific Responsibilities
Support day-to-day Metal Processing and Paint operations as required.
Provide CAM support to production by updating or creating programs for cut and bend machines.
Act as back-up Supervisor for MPC when Primary MPC Supervisor is out.
Drive projects to improve safety and quality.
Champion productivity improvement projects that involve process and/or design changes.
Identify and implement lean manufacturing principles.
Analyze and coordinate engineering changes and new product releases to production. Manage engineering changes to our existing product for manufacturability and/or cost reduction.
Support and/or Manage capital projects as required to improve safety, quality, productivity, and capacity.
Develop PFMEAs, control plans and operator work instructions to certify components and operations are consistent and high quality.
Drive error-proofing improvements through product and process changes.
Provide required support for ISO 9001 by working closely with ISO coordinating team and production employees to ensure compliance to ISO 9001 standards. Follow procedures established for manufacturing engineering to execute design changes, implementation of procedures and reference documents, and all documented responsibilities of process engineering.
Monitor new technical developments for possible application in the department.
Skills/Requirements
Bachelors degree from an ABET accredited engineering program is required – Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
5 to 10 years of related work experience in Metal Fabrication and Paint that includes:
Understanding and experience with metal fabrication equipment including, but not limited to:
Fiber laser cells
Turret punch presses
Laser-Turret combination machines
Large and Small tonnage press brakes
Welding (wire, spot, and robotic)
CD & PEM studding and pop-riveting.
CAM Programming Experience for metal fabrication equipment.
Proven track record of leading and implementing medium to large capital projects.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD
Working Knowledge of SAP
An understanding of powder coat paint systems is desirable, but not a requirement.
Preferred Skills
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Manufacturing experience in a high product mix environment.

The salary range for this position is $81,050 - $102,400. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
