About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior or Principal Geospatial / GIS Analyst to join our GIS team within the Water Group at Stantec New Zealand, based in our Wellington office.
Reporting to the GIS Team Lead NZ, you will lead effective business development, management, delivery and maintenance and of GIS related projects and resources. You will drive continuous improvement in the way we work and the technologies we use. You will also mentor and coach others and be seen as a technical expert in the broader Stantec whanau.
You will work across the broader Stantec business in Asia Pacific and be a part of multi-disciplined, global organisation with a great team culture. You will be based in our Wellington CBD office with a great sea view and have the flexibility to balance your career and home life.
In this highly visible role, you will
Be the project technical lead for large multi-sector projects including scoping, delivery, and project progress reporting
Determine the most effective solutions to project requirements and delegate priorities, budgets and timeframes for workload to supporting GIS Analysts
Provide a range of innovative spatial solutions to internal and external clients
Own relationships with key stakeholders to build, maintain and develop projects to support their unique requirements
Lead continuous improvement and implementation of GIS best practice across NZ and the wider Geospatial Community across Australia and New Zealand.
Provide technical mentoring and coaching to staff across multiple sectors within Stantec
Empower the people you work with to deliver the Digital Practice Strategy
Support the GIS Team lead and GIS Discipline lead to connect with Stantec’s global GIS Community
Support the development and promotion of spatial business development strategies for internal and external clients
What you will bring
You are a passionate geospatial professional with extensive experience successfully delivering complex projects, preferably in a consulting environment.
You have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and are able to work effectively with and inspire internal and external stakeholders/clients regarding the benefits of using an integrated spatial approach to projects. In addition, you are passionate about innovations and continuous improvement in technologies and GIS practice and previously led or contributed to transformation/change initiatives in this space.
Other attribute may help you succeed in the role:
Tertiary qualification in Geology, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant discipline
8 years’ experience, ideally in a consulting environment
Passionate to engage with stakeholders to collaborate and solve problems
Extensive experience working with GIS Platforms, Esri software suite including ArcPro, Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS online
Solid knowledge and experience in database design and development, with knowledge of SQL/SQL databases, FME and Python preferred but not a requirement
UI, UX, design experience
Well developed organizational skills in planning, conducting and coordinating complex projects.
