What You’ll Do
Discover is searching for an experienced professional that will be accountable for independently overseeing Capital Planning and Resolution Planning programs. This is a highly visible leadership role that will implement, maintain, and enhance the independent risk oversight framework for Capital Planning and Resolution Planning programs. You will review and evaluate business processes related to risk identification, assessment, management, and reporting activities for the submission of the annual Capital Plan and the Resolution Plan. As a subject matter expert, you will leverage experience to comply with key Company regulatory objectives. Additionally, you will provide independent review reports to senior management and the Board of Directors. It is critical to partner directly with business lines and/or functions, drive oversight discussions, and play a leadership role in designing and managing independent reviews per plan or on an ad hoc basis as needed.
How You’ll Do It
As the “Second line of defense,” implement and lead the effective challenge program for the execution of Capital Planning and Resolution Planning programs by the “first line” that ensures timely implementation and regulatory compliance.
Leads the coordination of the independent challenge process for Corporate Risk Management and provides independent assessments to the Board of Directors, Board of Directors subcommittee, Capital Planning Committee, and the Working Groups for the various processes and gateway check points as a part of the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) process and the Resolution Planning process. The effective challenge process ensures that management understands and agrees with key assumptions and decisions that impact the capital planning submission from economic scenario development, to key assumptions and modeling impacts, to capital payout decisions.
Liaise with business partners across Risk and Finance to review and challenge key assumptions and financial projections, provide effective challenge to CCAR forecast results and analyze key variance drivers between various scenarios.
Undertakes peer analysis of Fed-published CCAR results to ensure consistency and/or identify gaps with industry best practices.
Supports the process for the annual Horizontal Capital Review, Internal Audit Review, Board, and other Committee meetings.
Creates presentations to senior management and the Board on independent review and ongoing monitoring; supports regulatory exams by attending discussions and providing materials and/or responses to requests.
Works closely with MRM, for the validation of the relevant models used for capital planning.
Qualifications You’ll Need
The Basics
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field
10+ years of experience in Treasury, Finance, or Risk Management particularly in the areas of accounting, Capital Planning, regulatory reporting, or financial planning and budgeting or related
Bonus Points If You Have
CPA and/or CFA
Capital planning experience in Big 4 or similar consulting firm

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $103,000.00 to $174,200.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
