Summary
The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for the provision of accurate and timely payment of wages and salaries in line with legislative requirements, policies and procedures, as well as high level customer service to management and employees on conditions of employment matters. The position will play a lead role in coordinating payroll activities including payroll related enquiries and payroll processing, ensuring appropriate levels of quality, and compliance is met in line with appropriate legislation, regulations, policy and procedures.
Key Relationships / Interactions
The Senior Payroll Specialist is required to have strong working relationships with members of the Finance and Human Resources team.Essential Functions
Inputs data to computerized payroll systems to prepare all payroll frequencies, including updating and adjusting employee master file records upon notice of changes to deductions or status. Performs system data loads
Completes payroll processing activities, such as: computes wage and overtime payments, calculates and records payroll deductions, and processes requests for off-cycle payments
Answers complex questions (via email and phone) from employees and management regarding payroll matters. Ensures compliance with payroll policies and procedures
May audit earnings and deduction totals, review system output (e.g., registers and reports), determine and correct out-of-balance conditions, and prepare special reports for management
Performs standard administrative tasks, including answering phones, preparing reports, maintaining records, and tracking information using case management tool
Audits and processes payroll information submitted by Business Partners for accuracy, policy compliance, and completeness
Provides guidance to other payroll personnel. May assist with training and providing daily work direction
Continuously strive for process improvements in the payroll function
Assisting in the review of Payroll procedures and work instruction
Maintains confidentiality of employee and company data
Payroll testing as required
Assisting with any Payroll and finance projects as required
Additional Responsibilities
Processes payroll for approximately 6,000 to 8,000 employees across multiple statesTechnical Knowledge
Payroll Software experience, preferable Workday
Strong Excel Skills
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office and use of corporate technology.

Qualifications
H.S. diploma/GED required
Three to five (3-5) years of experience in payroll and/or finance, accounting, or related field required
Multi-state payroll processing required

data/ranges; applicant’s skills; prior relevant experience; certain degrees or
certifications, etc.
The pay for this position ranges from $33-$38 an hour based off experience
