Senior Optomechanical Design Engineer
Our Surveillance and Optics Mechanical Systems (SOMS) organization at Raytheon provides the joint warfighter with actionable information from an unblinking eye across the battlespace. By joining our SOMS Engineering team you will have the opportunity to design, test, and deliver product capabilities for precision EO/IR and Hight Energy Laser systems which provide situational awareness and a tactical advantage for our customers.
As a Senior Optomechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading efforts to produce cutting-edge components and subassemblies for our programs. This individual will be focused on hardware design and documentation, system build and integration, and delivery of high-quality hardware to the warfighter. The position is directly tied to development and delivery of precision EO/IR and High Energy Laser hardware designs under the guidance of the Integrated Product Team Lead and the Program Chief Engineer in McKinney, Texas.

Required Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field
You’re a great match with:
5 or more years professional experience in a production or design of electro-optical or Laser Systems
Ability to work to a defined budget/schedule and provide status
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Design experience utilizing PTC Creo modeling software
Self-starter, able to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines
Demonstrated leadership experience
U.S. Citizenship required as the applicant must have the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance within the first year after start date

Typically requires:
A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
Engineering/Other Technical Positions:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
