Job Summary
Global Subject matter expert in controls engineering with deep mechanical engineering (HVAC) expertise. Adopt technically sound and innovative operating practices that drive continuous operating performance improvement. Collaborate with Equinix and external groups to implement best practices, establish sound and effective operating policies, and facilitate the selection of efficient and reliable power and cooling equipment that meets Equinix's operating requirements.
Responsibilities
Implement global initiatives and projects that maximize reliability, improve cost performance, CFE time effectiveness, or enhance sustainabilityProvide Subject Matter Expert guidance and decision-making within Global Operations Engineering and other groups (cyber security, sequences of operations, controls software/hardware solutions)Support and maintain a global PLC program template library, including enhancement and training of code blocksContinually seek opportunities to implement new operating best practices that enhance operating performance using multiple outside data center industry consortiums Equinix for new best practices initiatives that enhance operations performanceEnsure knowledge requirements of developing critical facilities engineers and managers are met by establishing content and post-training evaluation requirements with Operations AcademyMaintain a library of operating policies that is easy to navigate and provides clear and current guidance to support changing operating requirements and objectivesLead communities of operations teams to share information on upcoming changes and subject matter discussion topics, gain insight into issues occurring in the field, and gain helpful feedback to drive continual improvement of operating policies and practicesEnsure operating and maintenance policy decisions are driven by rigorous, data-driven analysis and changes are promptly communicated throughout all stakeholder groupsParticipate and present on industry-recognized boards, data center consortiums, and conferences
Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in controls engineering design, operations, maintenance, and project planning with an emphasis & particular focus on data center or mission-critical HVAC systemsExtensive expertise in energy-efficient sequences of operations, industrial control solutions, and standard operating proceduresExtensive expertise in critical facility engineering, including managing or operating a facility; data center experience highly preferredTechnical expertise in critical power and cooling systems, life safety, and environmental complianceCertification in process/program management or equivalentExperience in technical paper writing, as well as policy and procedures, is requiredExcellent communication skills, with the ability to confidently present technical information to the company's high-level leadership, both internal and externalUnderstanding of and ability to work asynchronously on projects, programs, and initiativesAbility to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problemsAvailability across multiple time zones to participate in meetingsAbility to travel and be on-callBSME preferredProgram management experience preferredDemonstrated experience in standardization for a global organization preferred
