ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting to join the Accounting and Finance team at Peloton! This person will be key leader within our Technical Accounting team, which is responsible for researching and documenting accounting conclusions for significant and non-routine transactions, partnering with all aspects of the business to ensure accurate and timely technical accounting reviews of proposed transactions and contracts, developing and maintaining accounting policies, leading accounting standard adoption, and performing the accounting for complex business processes. This position will report to the Director of Technical Accounting with focus on supporting our Emerging Business team, and will require highly effective collaboration and communication with multiple business partners in a dynamic environment.

The person in this role will be our primary technical accounting resource supporting the business partners at the forefront of Peloton’s evolving business strategy and growth initiatives and will:
Be a highly-trusted partner to our Emerging Business teams and key internal stakeholders by providing technical accounting support and analysis during the evaluation, pursuit, and execution of sales, strategic partnership and M&A opportunities. Partner with a broad group of internal stakeholders and external advisors to develop a nuanced understanding of deal dynamics, legal docs, and underlying accounting risks and considerations for potential M&A transactions and will take ownership of developing the final accounting conclusions and go-forward accounting requirements. Advise business partners and accounting teams on developing SOX controls and accounting policy implementation plans, including hypercare and hand-off of designed procedures for new strategic initiatives. Collaborate regularly with various functions, including Product, Sales, Marketing, Real Estate, Treasury, and FP&A to provide expertise in any accounting aspects of new transactions and new or evolving products. Provide input and explanation throughout the process to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Respond to technical accounting inquiries from external and internal parties and communicate technical accounting matters and concepts to all levels within the organization. Ensure the internal controls related to accounting policies are designed, implemented and operating effectively for SOX compliance for new business initiatives. Design and perform procedures ensuring the completeness of the population of transactions captured for Technical Accounting review. Work closely with our external auditors on technical accounting matters and bring any accounting analysis to closure in a timely manner. Maintain professional and technical knowledge, and meet continuing professional education requirements, by attending educational workshops and conferences, and reading professional publications. Partner with the Accounting Policy & Governance team to manage and review the evaluation and documentation of the Company’s accounting policies to be applied to new, significant, or unusual transactions. Lead or assist with other special/ad hoc projects, as and when needed. Lead or assist with internal technical accounting training, as and when needed. YOU BRING TO PELOTON
8+ years of external audit, accounting, and/or technical accounting experience at a public company. Preferred combination of public accounting and private experience. High degree of technical proficiency, including specific experience leading complex accounting research and deal activities including in ASC 606 - Revenue from Contracts with Customers, ASC 805 - Business Combinations, ASC 810 - Consolidation, ASC 820 - Fair Value Measurement, and accounting for various investments. Prior experience providing technical accounting supporting for strategic initiatives and M&A including an understanding of the related deal structures, legal documents and key provisions governing strategic partnerships, investments and M&A transactions including NDAs, Term Sheets, Merger Agreements, Asset Purchase Agreements, Release and Waivers, IP Assignments, etc. Ability to disaggregate, analyze and reconcile consolidated financial data in an accurate and timely manner Deal/Transaction Advisory experience a plus Proven strong technical writer Strong understanding of internal control concepts, including documentation requirements Highly organized and experienced in handling multiple cross-functional large-scale projects and timelines at once, adhering to and refining best practices and repeatable processes Highly conscientious and proactive in managing up, escalating information, and over-communicating with your manager with an appropriate level of detail and a nuanced understanding of what matters most. Meticulous self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team environment Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; demonstrated ability to distill complex accounting topics into clear and concise conclusions that enable business leaders to make informed decisions is essential. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position based at our New York City headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes. Base Salary Range
$167,500—$217,600 USD
