Description: This is a Systems Engineer Senior Manager role for Orion Ground Operations Development and Execution.
The Systems Engineer Manager is responsible for identification of the ground operations required to service, integrate, test and launch the Orion spacecraft. Ground Operations for Orion start at the DD250 of the spacecraft elements to NASA and go through the return of the recovered Crew Module (post mission) back to the Kennedy Space Center. These requirements are communicated through ICDs, operational requirements (OMRS), engineering drawings, GSE identification (including design and functionality) and the Launch Site Support Requirements in the NASA KSC Program Requirements Document (KPRD).
The Systems Engineer Manager will lead a team of systems engineers with vehicle and operational experience in the development of those detailed requirements. This involves extensive cross-system (both internal and external to Lockheed Martin) and cross-program integration between NASA projects. As the contractor responsible for Orion MPCV processing, the team is also responsible for reviewing and facilitating the review and coordination of the operational procedures within Lockheed Martin and MPCV prior to the execution of the procedures.
The Systems Engineer Manager is also responsible for providing support to NASA EGS and its Ground Ops contractor during the actual execution of the operational requirements. This involves working closely with NASA and its Ground Ops contractor and extensive coordination between the Lockheed Martin and MPCV hardware owners during the execution of the operations to ready the vehicle for flight.
Basic Qualifications:
• Systems engineering experience or a related subject matter, including developing and managing requirements, verification efforts and preparation for certification of flight
• Experience leading teams and/or projects
• Able to prepare and conduct briefings and participate in technical and programmatic meetings with internal and external high level representatives
• Manage contract scope through the Contract Change Request and Special Task Order process
• Planning and formulating programs and organizing project staff according to program needs
• Experience working with the NASA customer
Desired Skills:
• Experience working with the NASA Kennedy Space Center and cross-programs integration
• Experience in the decomposition of vehicle requirements into operational requirements
• Understanding of the Operational Requirements (OMRS) used by NASA for vehicle processing
• Vehicle Systems level experience of the Orion vehicle
• Orion vehicle avionics and flight software knowledge
• Launch system integration including both the ground systems and flight elements
• Experience in the identification and management of the support equipment required for spacecraft ground processing
• Control Account Management (CAM) and/or Earned Value Management (EVM) experience
• Demonstrated leadership skills and behaviors that align with the Full Spectrum Leadership Imperatives
• Experience managing subcontractors and teammates

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
