Senior Manager, Sustainability Communications

What are we looking for?
Bachelor's Degree8+ years in the area of Sustainability/ESG Reporting, Public Relations, External Corporate or Brand Communications and reputation-building. Experience working in or with a global organization strongly preferred.Must be fluent in English - with both strong written and oral language skills
What will be your key responsibilities?
Support Sustainability Reporting and Communications - Serve as the day-to-day lead for the company's sustainability reporting communications, This will include working within an internationally respected sustainability reporting framework to tell a cohesive narrative about the Mars Sustainable in a Generation Plan and our overall sustainability efforts. You will collaborate with stakeholders from across Corporate functions and within the Segments, as well as working with Agency partners. You will set a yearly cadence for our reporting needs and ensure that the data and content gathering and key agency partners are engaging and delivering on time and on budget.
Support our Corporate Reputation Strategy - Sustainability is an important aspect of the Mars reputation strategy, where the company is a leading voice on issues like climate action. You will contribute to and help execute a strategy that will enhance our corporate reputation, showing how Mars is a purpose-led, innovative business, through reporting and other channels (e.g., social media). Take complex sustainability issues and turn them into simple and powerful narratives that drive transparency through our reporting. Equip our teams in the markets to leverage content and activate locally and ensure strong relationships with top markets. Support activation of hometown outreach and reputation building strategy around our global headquarters in the U.S. Support Climate Week New York / UNFCCC and CBD COPs.
Demonstrated expertise in the voluntary sustainability reporting space with high familiarity external reporting frameworks, including GRI, SASB, and TCFD and have successfully partnered to deliver a sustainability report - either in-house with a company or as part of an agency.Be familiar with the rapidly changing reporting environment, both voluntary and legally required, such as the European Union CSRD and the ISSB.To have knowledge and experience of business strategy and operations, with either a strong sustainability background and/or knowledge of decarbonization strategies, human rights, impact measurement, and non-financial reporting.Strong strategic planning and project management skills, solid business acumen, and ability to build and nurture relationships at all levels in a corporate environment.Understanding global reporting landscape, emerging opportunities and threats in the sustainability, regulatory, and industry contextExperience in Sustainability comms and how it drives corporate reputationInterest and experience both in reporting and corporate communicationsGood advocacy and negotiation skills with a diverse set of stakeholdersDemonstrate ability to navigate complex environments and build rapport with internal constituencies at all levels of the organization.Comfort around senior and higher managementProfessional gravitas and diplomacyPerspective, composure and calm under pressureA collaborative, flexible and highly-motivated style, with an approach to work that motivates and energizes others.Strong written and oral language and presentation skills.

Build and maintain a strong internal network stakeholders across various disciplines (including Marketing, Sustainability, R&D, Supply, Q&FS, Legal, Intellectual Properties, Commercial) to drive effective and transparent reporting, and long-term projectsBuild strong working relationships with Market, Regional, Global Segment and Mars, Inc.
