  The GPS BIA team (Global Product Development and Supply Business Insights and Analytics) partners with the BMS GPS organization to answer key business questions that drive business strategy using advanced data analytics and data science.

  The Senior Manager, Strategy & Business Excellence (SBE) Analytics will work directly with the Director, SBE Analytics to develop analytic tools and data science capabilities in support of the GPS Strategy & Business Excellence (SBE) organization and end-to-end planning activities within Global Supply Chain (GSC).

  The Senior Manager, SBE Analytics will lead technical projects in developing data science solutions for GPS in the areas of network strategy, long range supply planning, end-to-end supply planning, brand and portfolio Strategy, business continuity, business development and operational excellence.

  The successful candidate has a scientific background in operations research, engineering or other STEM field and has expertise in one or more of the following areas: data science, data analytics, data engineering, data visualization, supply chain planning, statistics, machine learning, predictive modeling, decision analysis under uncertainty, artificial intelligence, Python and/or R, app development, and Tableau dashboard development. Experience with simulation techniques and risk management is desired. Additionally, a successful candidate is a strong communicator with excellent presentation and writing skills and can manage multiple priorities and projects.

  Key Responsibilities:

  The Senior Manager, SBE Analytics will partner with Strategy & Business Excellence (SBE) and Business Insights and Analytics (BIA) stakeholders to establish core capabilities within the team, namely:

  Supporting business decisions - Work closely with SBE leaders to proactively identify and address priority business questions.

  Driving analytics and capability builds – Answer key business questions and support long range planning activities using innovative analytic and data science techniques. Assist with establishing core analytical and data science capabilities, standards, processes, and methodologies for the team.

  Driving team productivity and operational excellence – Ensure consistent adoption of standards, processes, and methodologies by contracted or other team staff. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the team’s overall productivity.

  Supporting Business Decisions

  Work closely with business stakeholders to proactively identify and address priority business questions within SBE and GSC. Work to embed an objective and unbiased point of view into the business conversation.

  Drive the application of fact-based decision making for key questions within SBE deliverables.

  Develops and maintains a deep understanding of SBE business priorities and the enterprise portfolio.

  Builds relationships with key stakeholder and senior leaders within SBE and BIA.

  Demonstrates ability to influence senior leaders to adopt analytics-derived insights.

  Driving Team Productivity and Operational Excellence

  Follows coding best practices and works with IT and other BIA stakeholders to drive the adoption of these best practices

  Conducts detailed team walkthroughs and peer reviews of team’s work to ensure quality, cross-training, and knowledge management

  Leads standardization of analytics and process methodologies in GPS Analytics

  Authors detailed documentation that describes analytics tool development, assumptions and input data and data processing.

  Mentors/coaches junior team members on technical topics.

  Driving Analytics and Capabilities

  Designs, develops, and implements a broad array of business analytics that solve complex problems in a computationally efficient and statistically appropriate manner.

  Identifies new opportunities to further leverage analytics, data and analytical tools.

  Actively manages multiple projects in parallel from charter through completion.

  Ensures best practice adoption within stated areas of responsibility, applying appropriate levels of technical capability, standardization and subject matter expertise.

  Defines standards for the provision of analytics to support planning and decision making processes and utilizes appropriate escalation processes.

  Acts as subject matter expert of the Bristol Myers Squibb technology stack within team and provides technical leadership for driving technology solutions in analytics deployment.

  Drives capability build for data automation, cloud computing and data lake integration within team.

  Contributes to defining the overall team strategy in collaboration with team leadership.

  Qualifications & Experience:

  Minimum Qualifications

  Ph.D. in operations research, engineering, pharmaceutical science, physics, or other quantitative area of study with 3-5 years of experience.

  M.S in operations research, engineering, pharmaceutical science, physics, or other quantitative area of study with 5-7 years of experience.

  B.S. in operations research, engineering, pharmaceutical science, physics, or other quantitative area of study with more than 7 years of experience.

  5+ years hands-on working in supply chain, data science, data analytics and data integration

  5+ years of hands-on experience with data science and analytics, modeling platforms, data engineering software and visualization tools (e.g. Advanced SQL, R, Python, SAP HANA, Spotfire, Tableau, Hadoop, Redshift).

  Ability to develop and implement production-ready analytic and data science solutions.

  Additional Experience:

  Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, team building, and communication skills to ensure effective collaborations within matrix teams.

  Exceptional project management skills with demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and priorities. Experience in Agile/Kanban a plus.

  Exceptional analytical skills with substantial knowledge of current data science & data engineering.

  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  Ability to learn new tools and skills quickly and gain and apply GPS specific knowledge.

  Proven ability to lead small teams/groups and manage a heavy workload.

  Experience working in pharmaceutical product development, supply chain, manufacturing, or forecasting.

  Experience interacting with business stakeholders: understanding, anticipating, and fulfilling their insight/analytical information requirements. Experience with translating analytical results for business leaders

  Ability to work with diverse teams across organizational lines and structures.
