The mission of the Transcatheter Heart Valve (THV) Medical Affairs organization is to foster internal and external collaborations to generate and disseminate evidence-based best clinical practices to help save patients’ lives and advance quality of care.
The Senior Manager, Scientific Communications will lead the design and implementation of scientific communication activities.
This position is an onsite / hybrid role based at Edwards Lifesciences’ corporate headquarters in Irvine, California, or can be a remote based role in the U.S.
How you will make an impact:
Proactively prioritize, identify, assess, and critically summarize relevant scientific and medical literature across therapeutic area
Synthesize, assess, and communicate potential impact of key findings to internal stakeholders
Partner with physician education program in working with KOLs/physicians on content development for educational slide decks.
Interpret study results and collaborate with HCPs (e.g., study Investigators, physicians) in the development of scientific communications content, such as conference proceedings (e.g., abstracts and presentations) and/or journal manuscripts
Initiate ad hoc data analysis (e.g., survival analysis) of clinical data sets and provide strategic recommendations to key stakeholders
Participate in conference coverage of select major relevant medical/scientific conferences and synthesize the summaries.
Conduct literature review to address internal and external medical information queries
Provide input to set the Global strategy of medical/scientific podium and publication programs
Develop and cultivate strong relationships with key physicians, KOLs, scientific societies and associations to facilitate scientific communication efforts
Lead the continued development of the scientific content repository
Other incidental duties: Represent Medical Affairs in various internal and external programs
What you’ll need (Required)
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of related experience working in clinical, research, or healthcare industryor
Master's degree or equivalent and 8 years of related experience working in clinical, research, or healthcare industryor
Doctorate degree and 6 years of related experience working in clinical, research, or healthcare industryand
Ability to travel about 15-20% for conferences and/or site visits as necessaryWhat else we look for:
In addition to meeting the basic requirements listed above, we strongly prefer candidates who possess these critical skills and background that will help us achieve our goals:

Cardiovascular medical device or cardiology biopharma experience
Advanced degree with health science background (PhD, PharmD, DNP, or other doctoral prepared professional in the pharma, device, or healthcare industry)
Experience supporting the development of scientific/medical conference proceedings and manuscript publications in major scientific journals
Experience working with HCPs to establish clinical evidence based cardiovascular therapies
Other Preferred Experience
Knowledge of and familiarity with statistical methods
Proven successful project management skills
Clinical and scientific acumen, for use in various circumstances, including in working with internal stakeholders and with physicians in identifying evidence gaps and opportunities
Extensive scientific acumen, for use in various circumstances, including in working with internal stakeholders and with physicians in identifying evidence gaps and opportunities
Extensive knowledge of ACCME, AdvaMed, EUcomed, FDA and ISO regulations
Strong leadership skills with ability to influence and guide stakeholders

The base pay range for this position is $138,000 to $196,000 (highly experienced).
The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience).
