Job Description About This Role
The Manager/Senior Manager, Scientific Communications is a member of the Global Scientific Capabilities department within Medical Affairs and is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of high-quality scientific communications deliverables. This person will report to the Director, Scientific Communications for Rare Disease, Pipeline, and Neuropsychiatry and will have the opportunity to work in multiple therapeutic areas, primarily leading publications. The successful candidate will have strong leadership and analytical skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to balance multiple ongoing workstreams, prioritizing as necessary.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate with Global Medical on the development of the overall scientific communications strategyProvide scientific communications expertise and leadership for assigned products, including publications and the global scientific platform; provide input into the overall scientific communications strategyEnsure that materials are developed in a manner consistent with Biogen SOPs and other relevant guidelines, such as GPP3Lead cross-functional team meetings and drive the production of scientific communications materials, often under tight timelines.Manage external vendors and ensure that all materials are developed in a cost-effective manner and are consistent with the strategic thinking for a given productEnsure that submitted materials are accurate, compliant, balanced, and of the highest quality Who You Are
A strategic partner with an excellent understanding of the relationship between Worldwide Medical and other departments, including Clinical, Commercial, Legal, and Regulatory. You have the ability to develop collaborative relationships with internal colleagues and to be independent, multi-task, and results-oriented with a hands-on attitude in a fast-paced and energetic environment.
Qualifications Required Skills
Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD preferred). A minimum of 2 years’ experience (in medical affairs or at a medical communications agency) is required for the level of Senior ManagerPrior experience in scientific communications and publicationsStrong understanding of GPP and other applicable industry guidelines; CMPP certification a plusStrong interpersonal, analytical, and communications skills; ability to incorporate feedback from multiple, diverse stakeholdersAble to travel to scientific meetings, as necessary (up to 10%)Outstanding planning and organizational skills; able to balance multiple priorities while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentDemonstrated ability to effectively work with cross-functional partners and external thought leaders *LI-RD8
