About Senior Manager, Public Policy

  Description

  The Senior Manager for Trade and Compliance Policy will develop and execute advocacy strategies and policy initiatives in support of Amazon’s policy priorities related to trade and trade compliance. The Senior Manager will work closely with other public policy teams, Legal, PR, and the relevant business units to ensure alignment with business priorities and goals.

  The Senior Manager will monitor and report relevant legislative and regulatory activity related to trade and trade compliance, develop positioning and mitigation/engagement strategies, and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with business objectives. The Senior Manager will be responsible for leading engagements with trade associations, think tanks, advocacy groups, and other relevant external stakeholders on key trade and trade compliance policy issues.

  As appropriate, the Senior Manager will be responsible for facilitating meetings between executives and key stakeholders. The Senior Manager will report to the Senior Manager, Public Policy.

  Key job responsibilities

  We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

  Arlington, VA, USA

  Basic Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree required.

  At least 10 years of relevant public policy experience and a keen working understanding of the US federal policymaking process and government relations.

  An ability and desire to travel is required.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. You can create factual, relevant and easily understandable talking points and other messaging, and you can persuasively deliver it to relevant audiences. You can make points intelligently, concisely, and in a friendly way.

  Highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity.

  Proven track record of working cross-functionally

  A self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results. When the resources are not immediately at-hand, you enjoy reaching out to a wide array of functional groups across an organization to get the information you need.

  Ability to understand how technical language in legislative and regulatory proposals could affect corporate operations, identify business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal customers.

  Prior experience with steep learning curves, and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences.

  Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others.

  Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills and political acumen.

  Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others, including with trade associations.

  Juris Doctor or Master’s Degree.
