Location/Division Specific Information
Within Medical Communications, we improve patient health by supplying medical information services to our customers, patients and
healthcare providers. We engage with healthcare professionals, regulatory agencies and pharmaceutical customers to help them navigate
regulatory and compliance requirements around the world. We manage medical information inquiries, document adverse events and product
complaints, report product launches, prepare standard responses to inquiries and develop process improvements for customer
implementation.
Discover Impactful Work:
Manages key client relationships and oversees the operations of the program team to maximize
operational quality and client loyalty. Advises on strategic direction and planning for program operations
and provides input on team budgets/invoicing, recruiting, and forecasting. Mentors, trains and supervises
junior level managers, non-healthcare professional, support level program staff, and/or other program
support staff on the program team to ensure contracted services are provided in accordance with client
and department policies and procedures and contractual agreements.
A day in the Life:
Serves as an independent liaison with client representatives for discussion of strategic operational issues, resource planning, and quality oversight.Completes or oversees development of client reports and procedural documents and supports the business development team by collaborating on program models and participating in presentations.Maintains excellent program knowledge, troubleshoots program issues, and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures including SOP's, protocols, and other regulations by conducting quality monitoring of staff work.Acts as resource to junior non-health care professional managers in liaising between the client, program management and staff for operational issues such as workflow processes, available resources, and new initiatives impacting the program.Directs all aspects of program training including conducting training, developing curriculum, and documenting and maintaining training records and curriculum.Drives effective client operations which may include troubleshooting for database issues, phone routing or other issues as they impact internal departments, vendors, or the client.Manages staff, which may include interviewing and selection, job description preparation, professional development, goal setting, performance management, coaching and mentoring, employee counseling, and separations.Approves courses of action on salary administration, hiring, corrective action, and terminations.Reviews and approves time records, expense reports, requests for leave, and overtime.Interprets and administers policies, processes, and procedures that may affect sections and subordinate work units. Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and / or resolve technical problems. Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility. Interacts frequently with internal personnel and outside representatives at various levels. Participates and may present at meetings with internal and external representatives. Interaction typically concerns resolution of operational and scheduling issues concerning projects and / or contractual clarifications.
Keys to Success:
Education
Bachelor of Science degree in a science/health-related field.
Experience
Previous experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry with responsibilities involving counselingor providing medical information that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job(comparable to 8+ years).2+ years of leadership responsibility

Management Role:
Manager role with significantly larger management scope (e.g. global or regional responsibilities or multiple departments) OR mastery of manager skills and responsibilities as demonstrated by consistent, multi-year successful performance.Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, assisting subordinates with difficult inquiries or problems, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies, and development and implementation of unit policies and procedures. Recommends employees for employment, discipline, termination; initiates and communicates a variety of personnel actions (e.g. performance and salary reviews, promotions, time off requests, timesheet and expense report approvals). In some instances may be responsible for a functional area (as determined by executive management) and not have subordinate supervisors or employees.
