The Team
The Booking.com Fraud team is responsible for protecting Booking.com's customers and partners against online fraud and is part of our global Security team. The global team is organised around capability areas, with Capability Area Leads providing end-to-end ownership for their areas. A capability area is defined as a self-contained and logically grouped set of activities, systems, processes, people and other necessary resources deployed to accomplish a particular purpose and business outcome.
The global Fraud team consists of four of these capability areas. We are currently hiring an experienced leader for the Marketing Fraud capability. The Senior Manager Marketing Fraud will report to the Senior Director of Fraud and will be part of the Fraud Leadership Team as well as the Extended Security Leadership Team.
The Marketing Fraud capability area provides protection against marketing fraud and abuse such as the abuse of our incentives, affiliates and PPC programs as well as customer and reservation related fraud leading to blocked inventory. It supports business units in setting up secure campaigns and acquisition initiatives, ensuring that criminal parties are not able to negatively affect our supply partners or our company.
The Role
The Senior Manager Marketing Fraud is expected to have a level of domain expertise necessary to drive its strategy and to be able to set the direction for their area, while leaving the execution to the technical experts.
This individual works on a global scale and will typically manage a multi-disciplined team and therefore will be expected to demonstrate proficiency and/or be credible across a wide range of skills including Product Management, Operations, Engineering and Machine Learning.
The Senior Manager Marketing Fraud provides measurable input in defining the direction of new products, processes and operational plans in the area of Marketing and Demand based Fraud, and adapts and enhances quality and value in existing methods. This individual analyzes complex issues and modifies working methods in a broader work area. In addition, they convince others who are skeptical or unwilling to accept new concepts, practices and approaches coming to an agreement on issues that are tactical in nature.
The Senior Manager Marketing Fraud is expected to be well connected in the industry, playing an active role representing the company at conferences and industry gatherings. They are seen as an authority in the area of Marketing Fraud (including but not limited to Promotional Abuse, Wallet payments, and affiliate fraud); and continue to maintain a solid level of understanding on other e-commerce fraud types.
Their organization will own the strategic product vision and roadmap as well as the end-to-end prevention, detection and response strategy for Marketing Fraud. Their team will deliver data-driven solutions that mitigate fraud risks on Booking.com's strategic partnership channels and Customer Acquisition campaigns/efforts.
The Senior Manager Marketing Fraud will work closely with stakeholders from the different Booking.com business units including Marketing, Fintech, and Accommodations. In addition they maintain a strong relationship with Legal, Privacy, Risk & Controls and multiple other teams within the organization. For all these stakeholders they are able to clearly articulate the potential risks and their adverse impact to the business, and together with the team work on agreed solutions that mitigate these risks while keeping the customer experience front and center.

Identifying & driving initiatives effectively involving multiple stakeholders, re-prioritising tasks when beneficial. Leading the design, production and socialisation of a strategic roadmap for Marketing Fraud. Providing measurable input in defining the direction of new products, processes or operational plans with some impact on business unit results. Driving continuous improvements and operational efficiency in Marketing Fraud, ensuring the appropriate resources and budget are applied to each topic and that the organization and people are set up to deliver. Ensuring control effectiveness is monitored and take action when needed. Ensuring incidents are handled timely, effectively and appropriately within your area and impact is kept to a minimum.
Role Qualifications and Requirements: 8 to 12 years of experience in the external fraud domain (e-commerce). Managing multidisciplinary teams including experience with being a manager of managers. Strong leadership skills, ability to influence and steer leadership and senior management. Ability to influence and/or interact with all levels of the organization Have a solid business understanding. Independently use quantitative and qualitative data to drive decision making and lead by example. Analytical skilled and experience in data handling, able to tell a clear story with data/insights Think holistically and be able to articulate long term vision for the capability area and for the department strategy Exceptional social skills focused on collaboration, building connections and relationships within diverse teams, across organization and industry. Effectively communicate to large (upward) audience, strong influencer in groups Ability to break up highly complex problems into practical and easy to understand solutions. Able to function well within ambiguity, under pressure and in a constantly changing environment Having strong Product Management experience, with an emphasis on Machine Learning products is a plus.
