In this role, you will provide strong leadership and day-to-day coaching and guidance to an experienced team of HR Business Partners (HRBPs) who are responsible for providing HR guidance and support to employees, leaders, and executives at all levels within our Corporate Center and Power Supply operating units (OUs). This team is proactively focused on all aspects of people, culture, and work environment matters and collaborates with Centers of Excellence (COE) partners to design and deliver high-impact solutions that address the needs of today while also aligning with longer-term strategic plans of their OUs.
Along with the HRBP Principal Manager (PM), you will help to create and maintain a safe and engaging work environment, while effectively driving accountability for the delivery of high-value, high-impact work that is appropriately balanced and aligned with OU and employee/work environment needs. You will also provide broad oversight, thought leadership, and guidance related to a variety of HR programs, initiatives, and solutions that align with business needs. You may also be assigned direct responsibility for OU(s) and senior executive partnerships to support, as well as HR-specific projects to lead and/or contribute to.

Leads and supports HRBP team through day-to-day guidance and direction, assistance with priority management, and handling of sensitive or escalated issues. Provides advanced thought partnership, guidance, and direction on people and organizational issues where needed. Proactively sets expectations, provides real-time feedback, and manages overall performance to ensure that individual and team performance remain strong. Ensures the ongoing targeted development of both individual and collective team competencies and capabilities Prioritizes and heavily invests in the engagement and retention of team (with PM.) Oversees and may contribute to the development and execution of high-impact OU people plans for all OUs. Translates people strategies into actionable plans for implementation. May directly collaborate with OU leadership, HR COEs, and/or HRBP PM on specific OU plans. Reviews and provides guidance for significant or sensitive OU work environment matters. May oversee and/or contribute to solution planning and actions. Proactively collaborates with HR COE partners to design, communicate, and implement solutions to business needs; influences and ensures proper alignment, integration, and successful implementation of highly effective HR processes and programs across the HR function. Holds self and others accountable for ensuring that HR service results are optimally delivered; may serve as a facilitator to resolve related issues and concerns; proactively identifies and elevates potential opportunities for improvement; actively engages and partners with HR colleagues to explore, influence, and implement creative solutions. Provides guidance and oversight of HRBP team to ensure adherence and compliance with HR policies and practices, as well as to meet requirements of applicable HR, employment and other applicable laws and ordinances. Participates in selection, onboarding, and integration of new team members. Leads and/or participates in special projects and assignments; provides support to HRBP PM for ad hoc projects, requests, and needs; may manage costs and budgets; may represent HRBP PM at OU or HR leadership meetings, as needed.
Qualifications
The essentials
Ten years of progressive human resources experience, with at least five years in a large organization with an HR COE model. Five or more years of experience successfully operating in a strategic HRBP role, including support to senior executives. Five or more years of experience directly managing/supervising multiple HR professionals (preferably HRBPs).
The preferred
Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Business, or another related field. Prior leadership/supervision of an HR Business Partner team. Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills; ability to conduct courageous conversations. Experience requiring the ability to effectively deal with highly sensitive matters, exercise solid judgment, make strong decisions, and advise individuals at all levels across a wide variety of sensitive subject areas. HR Certifications: SHRM-SCP SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR; Coaching Certification Experience working in HR COE. Experience with large-scale organizational change and restructuring initiatives, including expert level knowledge of change management methodologies. Experience working in large, matrixed organizations. Experience working with Labor Relations and union employees.
You should know
This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
