Develops customized quantitative tools using programming tools (Python or R). Provides modeling, analytical solutions, and data management services to quantitative researchers, portfolio managers, and senior management. Reports capabilities, multi-factor model risk forecasting, quantitative alpha research, big data analytics, and performance attribution. Contributes to the continued development and incorporation of non-traditional and/or unstructured data and data science applications to enhance the research and investment process. Delivers innovative data visualization and analytical tools capable of illustrating current and time series investment themes, portfolio exposures, and factors driving fund performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversees daily, weekly, and monthly production reporting cycles across the analytic environments.Responds to ad-hoc data analysis requests in support of projects.Participates in all aspects of portfolio risk including model construction, factor and covariance definitions, and factor calculations.Translates output statistics into meaningful information used within the portfolio management function. Ensures that all required input data is available, statistical output is accurate, and reports are generated properly.Expands and enhances technical infrastructure.Analyzes large data sets in order to develop new processes, perform calculations, identify anomalies, and/or produce new reporting capabilities. Liaises with investment professionals to gather requirements and manage deliverables of technical development teams.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Senior Manager, Data Analytics and Insights (or closely related occupation) modeling asset allocation for investment portfolios using large datasets, programming languages (Python and R or VBA and Matlab), and technological platforms (Bloomberg) in a financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Manager, Data Analytics and Insights (or closely related occupation) modeling asset allocation for investment portfolios using large datasets, programming languages (Python and R or VBA and Matlab), and technological platforms (Bloomberg) in a financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") developing metrics and visualizations (for quantitative analysts to analyze asset allocation models results) using R, Python and SQL/Oracle Database or Excel and VBA in investment management industry; and implementing complex portfolio return and risk calculations on investment portfolios using stress testing.DE building quantitative models - regression and time series (in Python and R or Excel, VBA, and Matlab) - to enhance investment decision-making, using macroeconomic and market-movement time-series data for modeling, in a production environment.DE analyzing large financial datasets and security/trade level information (in Python and SQL/Oracle Database or Excel, VBA, and Matlab) to develop new processes, perform calculations, identify anomalies, and produce new reporting capabilities.DE delivering recommendations and communicating complex quantitative findings by developing written and oral presentations.
