   Position Summary

  This role supports the London PE group, in developing and implementing business development initiatives aimed at building, sustaining and retaining client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, winning new work and positioning and profiling the Firm as one of the pre-eminent PE practices.

   Responsibilities

  • Work with the Partners and Global Director to formulate and articulate the London PE strategy

  • Supporting the partners in the drafting, reviewing and implementing industry and client plans and ensuring that they are constantly adapted to market conditions and aligned and complementary to the vision of the practice and the strategy of the Firm

  • Proactively identify new opportunities / markets for our PE services through the development and implementation of focused action plans

  • Taking the lead in articulating the PE practice key messages and formulating a plan to enhance and maintain our brand and market position for the London PE practice, including press, directories, league tables and awards

  • Proactively supporting London PE client relationships with the objective of broadening the Firm's offering and services to those clients, including undertaking regular client feedback

  • Client Relationship Manager to one Key Firm PE Industry client

  • Alongside the London Corporate Pitch Manager, taking a lead role in pitches and proposals for the London PE practice and large, important regional panels and pitches, including the preparation of capability statements as and when required

  • Overseeing and project management of Business Development and Marketing initiatives, through effective delegation and management of centralised dedicated specialist resource and wider centralised support. Including: Developing and implementing effective marketing campaigns to promote the Firm's reputation as a leading London/EMEA PE practice Playing a lead role in organising and implementing thought leadership projects Responsible for over-seeing legal directories and awards submissions Project managing client events alongside the Firm's events team Reviewing and updating where necessary relevant marketing collateral used for business development activities Providing day-to-day BD support to the London PE practice in a timely and effective manner • Effectively using the centralised Firm resources, including delegation to the designated PE Specialist within the central team, to ensure: Maintenance of world class processes and infrastructure to support the business development efforts of the practices e.g. pitches, client relationship management, opportunity pipeline data, training effective use of all communication channels for the practices and Firm generally, e.g. website, e-bulletins, mailing lists, media/relations, sponsorship, conferences, research and industry networks;

  • Reaching out and building relationships with relevant business development colleagues throughout the Firm's network to ensure an integrated PE offering across London, EMEA and globally

  • Effective delegation and management of dedicated BD specialist to ensure support, training and development are achieved

  Education/Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject

   Essential job requirements

  • A solid track-record of business development experience, preferably at manager level and within a law firm and/or large international organization, with at least 8 years' experience

  • Specific knowledge of PE industry sector and client relationship management in general (either in a legal or business development capacity) is strongly preferred

  • Sound business acumen

  • Strong influencing, negotiating and coaching skills at a partner level

  • A proven ability to work to tight deadlines, juggle multiple projects and deliver under pressure

  • Well-developed organisational and communication skills

  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels

  • Pragmatic, self-motivated, flexible, and able to work both in a team and individually as required

  • Excellent IT skills

  • Excellent communicator - both orally and in writing - with exceptional attention to detail

  • Impactful and assertive

  • Energetic with a positive outlook

  • Good team player and team/project management experience

   Office location & Reporting Line

  • This is a role based in our London Office.

  • This role will be reporting into the Global Director of Business Development, Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00 with a current requirement for 3 days in the office per week
