JOB REQUIREMENTS: Duties The Workplace Violence Prevention Program(WVPP) Specialist facilitates the implementation of violence preventionstrategies at a local level through education, monitoring, andcoordination activities. The Coordinator is responsible for overseeingthe day-to-day business of the Work Place Violence Prevention Program,maintaining knowledge and use of the latest evidence-based riskassessment and management literature and tools, conducting clinicalthreat/risk assessments of Veterans and veteran or employee generateddisruptive behavior to determine recommendations for risk mitigation touse in consultation with providers, supervisors, clinical staff and DBCmembers, informing and providing clinical intervention in cases ofdisruptive or violent behavior history or assessed risk for suchbehavior, providing education to staff, and providing timely andaccurate responses to action items regarding the Workplace ViolencePrevention Program. In conjunction with SORCC Executive Leadership, theBehavioral Health Service, and HR, the Coordinator will plan, organize,and direct administrative, operational, patient and personnel activitiesfor the program. The Coordinator will collaborate effectively with legalrepresentatives, the Office of the Inspector General, court officialsincluding the Assistant U.S. Attorney, police (VA and community), andother consumers and/or community providers when necessary. Overall, theposition and the program will benefit veterans and employees workingtogether as partners in making the VA facilities safer and moreeffective in treatment and operations. FUNCTIONS OR SCOPE OF ASSIGNEDDUTIES The incumbent plans, develops, implements, and oversees allcomponents of facility Workplace Violence Prevention programming. TheCoordinator is responsible for: A. Management of the Workplace ViolencePrevention Program for VA SORCC 1. Prevention and Management ofDisruptive Behavior (PMDB) a. Establishes continuity between PMDB andDisruptive Behavior Committee. b. Obtains and maintains PMDB CertifiedTrainer status. c. Consults with the PMDB training team to coordinatetraining of VA SORCC staff. d. Assists with identification and selectionof PMDB Facility Trainers qualified to become Master Trainers andretention of sufficient Master Trainers to minimize costs of developingnew Facility Trainers via Train The Trainer (TTT) courses. e.Participation in national PMDB conference calls and trainings pertinentto the coordination of the program as time allows. 2.
