Mission statement:
The Senior Infrastructure Specialist - Linux is responsible for providing Linux technical support across all levels of established client Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and upholding the technical standards and procedures within the Linux Administration team. The support scope includes on-prem as well as cloud deployments including tasks such Linux Server Administration, Cloud Administration, Deployments, Policies, Governance, Security, Upgrades, Migrations etc. The person in this role must also be able to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and act as an SME / escalation point.
This role will act predominantly as L2 & L3 support specialist providing support and guidance for any ongoing operations, projects, roll outs, deployments and upgrades. Responsible to ensure high standard of service to potential and existing clients is maintained through adherence to documented standard and procedures.
Your responsibilities:
You will manage and maintain the company's Linux and Cloud infrastructure, manage Linux Server deployments (on-prem as well as cloud) and finetune on-prem as well as cloud-based servers for maximum performance, uptime and availability.You will implement and maintain security policies and procedures, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, perform Linux and Azure administration tasks, such as: Configuring and managing Azure virtual machines and implementing and managing Azure security policies.You will administer incident, problem, and change management processes in accordance with ITIL best practices, administer patch management processes to ensure that all systems are up to date with the latest security patches and administer vulnerability management processes to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities in the company's IT infrastructure.You will oversee remediation processes to fix security vulnerabilities that have been identified and Supervise performance management processes to monitor the performance of the company's IT infrastructure.You will troubleshoot performance issues to identify and resolve problems that are affecting the performance of the company's IT infrastructure and perform root cause investigations for major support incidents or problems and provide feedback to seniors and client management.You will take part in an on-call roster and shift work to provide Level 2 & 3 support and provide coaching and guidance to team members on technical troubleshooting and investigation.Living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
Your background:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.10+ years of experience in Linux and cloud administration.In depth experience and expertise around various Linux/Unix flavors including Redhat, Oracle Linux, HP UX and CentOS.Experience with VMware, AWS, or Azure.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong understanding of security principles and best practices.Solid hands-on experience in UNIX Shell, PowerShell, Perl, Python.Solid understanding and experience of Azure Cloud including monitoring and backup.Well verse with various enterprise monitoring and devops tool chain Nagios, OpenView, OpenNMS. OpsGenie, Jira Prometheus, Grafana, Jenkins, Docker Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Elastic Search.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
