Position Summary: The Senior Grants Accountant is responsible for post-award management of grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements for the Grants Accounting Office. Primary duties and responsibilities include gathering and analyzing data, preparing statements and financial analysis, preparing for, and conducting audits and assessments, and identifying and resolving discrepancies. This includes oversight of budget development of grant proposals; review of requests for proposals; and meeting with faculty and other project directors or principal investigators to plan proposal budgets, review, and upload them through the university grants approval portal.
Description of Job Duties
Provide expert financial research and grants administration to support the Health Profession schools, playing a key role in the coordination of research and grant activities including.
special projects and oversight of complex programs.
Prepare financial reports required by sponsors; create, and discuss monthly financial reports with key stakeholders; complete and track billing agreements with partner institutions and
timely submission of progress reports.
Monitor project expenditures, including monthly assessments of fund activity to prevent overruns.
Make recommendations of actions, prepare, and maintain financial analysis and forecasting on a timely and ongoing basis.
Serve as liaison to other departments including Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Purchasing, and oversee all billing and A/R activities for research and grants as required.
Manage the timely and accurate submission of granting agency reports.
Advise regarding the cost allowance to be charged to a grant; work with Grants Accounting Office and HP personnel to resolve complex accounting issues.
Prepare payroll transaction analysis and Time and Effort certification forms for federal and state grants.

Identify and resolve issues that arise throughout the life cycle of the award, sub-recipient monitoring on sub-awards/contracts, re-budget requests, financial projections, maintaining.

Verify procedural compliance and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and/or systems that support grant accounting.
Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and business processes to ensure compliance with federal, state and all other regulatory bodies governing financial grant compliance.
Work in conjunction with the Grants Accounting Office on issues related to interdepartmental policies and procedures regarding the post-award financial administration of research.

Required Work
Experience Three (3) years of professional grant accounting experience.
Five years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in support of research and grant administration and grant budget development.
Experience managing grants at the federal, state and local level.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting or Finance.
The should be able to work in Excel to include v-look ups, pivot tables and formulas. The Senior Grant Accountant will work Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
