American Express Technology is a critical Enterprise function, serving as the backbone of all we do from providing the underlying infrastructure of the company to building core products and services we deliver to our customers. The Technology organization has dramatically changed over the years, moving from a waterfall operation to an agile model of working. As Technology evolves its operating model, Finance will also adapt accordingly to best position the organization in supporting American Express businesses.
The role will be key in providing financial decision support, key analytics, strategic oversight, and reporting for a multitude of critical priorities while building a strong partnership across Technology Risk and Information Security (TRIS) and Technology Business Management (TBM).
How will you make an impact in this role?
Responsible for contacting clients with overdue accounts to secure the settlement of the account. Also they do preventive work to avoid future overdues with accounts that have a high exposure.
Participate in Annual Plan/Monthly forecasting cycles providing relevant financial analytics and commentary to business partners to ensure achievement of financial targets
Prepare and present key recommendations to Finance and Technology Leadership to drive decision making
Provide thought leadership and drive the linkage of capacity management efforts with financial planning efforts, finding ways to improve processes and connectivity between teams
Learn, leverage, and refine data awareness tools and capabilities to track investment spent for specific AXP Units, and articulate both the business and technology story to various partners
The incumbent will need to work across a matrix of stakeholders – technology, finance, product teams, etc. to ensure proper change management and financial alignment
Perform ad hoc analytics as required
Review and process technology deals with partners in technology and controllership judiciously
Minimum Qualifications
Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills: ability to distill financial data into clear and concise insights
Robust technical skills to synthesize large amounts of complex data with the ability to draw key conclusions
Ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities effectively and drive results while meeting critical deadlines
Self-starter with a high degree of intellectual curiosity
Proficient in Microsoft suite required (Advanced Excel skills preferred); IBM Cognos TM1 and Power BI preferred
Understanding of P&Ls, financial metrics, cost drivers, forecast methodologies, and cost allocation/expense recovery concepts
Relevant work experience preferred
Undergraduate Degree required

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
