Dolby Korea team is a local support team facing our industry's key customers and reporting to the San Francisco HQ team. We are looking for a Senior Field Application Engineer (FAE) responsible for providing engineering and technical support to assist the sales team with closing new design wins and supporting existing customers / programs. The FAE will do this by understanding our technology portfolio, providing detailed technical guidance to our customers, and helping them understand how Dolby's mobile audio and video technologies can enhance the value proposition of their products. The FAE will be the primary "technical voice of the customer" within Dolby for assigned accounts.
The successful candidate will have a BS or MS degree in a technical field and a broad understanding of mobile entertainment products, technologies, and markets. S/he will also grasp the role played by Dolby's offerings in these areas. The most competitive candidates will have detailed technical knowledge and experience in XR (Extended Reality), Mobile, CE, or PC markets; close familiarity with planning, design, development, manufacture, and/or QA testing of these or similar products; demonstrated knowledge of multimedia technology, Android and its multimedia framework, mobile development environment, and embedded systems; expert debugging skill; and advanced communication skills in both Korean and English.
Essential Job Functions
Correspond and collaborate extensively to provide technical support to licensee companies by email, by phone, and in person during product planning, design, development, manufacture, and sales. Escalate cases and customer issues to other departments as needed. Technical support for customers to adopt Dolby technology - designing, integration, testing, verification, audio tuning, debugging technical issues on their mobile products. Work with cross-functional teams across Dolby as the "voice of the customer" providing feedback on and driving improvements to Dolby's licensing deliverables. Leverage customer meetings to gather intelligence about customers' product plan, product requirements and share with relevant Dolby teams. Support pre-sales activity delivering technical presentations, demonstration of new products, promoting the value proposition of Dolby technologies to customers. Occasional international travel is required. Education, Skills, Abilities and Experience Required: Complete, and unconditionally honest conscientiousness, even when nobody is watching. This is more important than anything else. BSEE or MSEE or similar (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, etc.) and up to 10 years' experience in consumer audio/video or related fields. Developing multimedia system on Android with Audioflinger, OMX Codec, Android APIs Android build system, and development with Git, Gerrit Audio acoustics, sound system and signal processing knowledge Audio/video test and measurement Perceptual coders Multimedia interfaces such as HDMI, Firewire, DLNA, etc. Mobile products and applications Audio on Bluetooth or WiFi Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Korean and English. ("Communication" is more important than perfection.) Ability to quickly understand complex technical and/or business issues and explain them to technical and non-technical personnel without using big words or complicated grammar. Experience on direct customer support or pre-sales support activity. Nice to have: Knowledge of Dolby's ecosystem, products, business and its customers. Experience in Jira and Salesforce.
