Join our mission today.Senior Engineering Manager - Space Suit Programs (Onsite)Position Overview:Collins Aerospace Space Systems is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, Extravehicular Activity (EVA) and Human Surface Mobility (HSM) program to lead a team of engineers focused on product development, continuous improvement initiatives, and new business. The ideal candidate is a highly engaged, hands-on engineering leader who has a passion for developing talent and collaborating with others to solve challenging problems.The Senior Engineering Manager, EVA and HSM Programs is a technical leader and manager. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in project execution to include design and development of complex electro-mechanical systems. The candidate will have successfully led teams to deliver technically compliant and producible products in accordance with stakeholder requirements within an allocated budget and schedule.Primary Responsibilities:
The Sr. Engineering Manager leads a team with responsibility for the cost, schedule, and technical performance of assigned programs. Responsible for the leadership, training, mentoring, coaching, and oversight of a team of engineersResponsible for the design, development, and testing of team-assigned deliverablesCoordination with cross-functional program leaders within Engineering and across functionsOn-time, on-budget delivery for team-assigned deliverablesActive participation in design reviews in accordance with department policy, customer requirements, and contractual specificationsDevelopment of employee personal development plans, and team/department level succession planningEnsure adherence to department and company policies, ethics and regulatory compliance, and contractual specificationsProvide recommendations and resources for continuous improvement activitiesLead team in all aspects of product design and development life cycle including requirement capture, detailed design, layout, test and verification activities focused on space domain product designAcquire and develop engineering talent through recruiting and hiring processesReview, maintain, and optimize standard work instructions ensuring both process completeness and process speedCollaborate cross-functionally with systems engineering, safety and reliability team members, and discipline-aligned design teams to achieve elegant and reliable solutionsProvide as-needed expert design guidance and support to design & development and production programsProvide design support for internal and customer funded R&D projectsBasic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws / regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years' experience OR In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holderThis position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with NASA Guidelines.
