Become a Senior Engineer 1 in the Strategic Project Development group at Southern California Edison (SCE) to contribute to California's clean energy future. As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to influence the future of the grid through analysis of both transmission and battery storage opportunities.

Perform scenario analysis with multiple forecasts and forecast sensitivities to identify potential risks and opportunities associated with project concepts. Recommend project alternatives with strengths and weaknesses for consideration. Identify potential project opportunities associated with emergent regulatory policy to benefit California ratepayers. Support in CAISO Transmission Planning efforts, leading workstreams to evaluate project outputs. Conduct grid assessments in collaboration with Corporate Strategy to support SCE's strategic path forward, including location identification, forecasting, analysis, and solution optimization. Provide recommendations on tool development and process enhancements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of SCE's system planning processes. Conduct studies to identify potential reliability-focused BESS asset locations. Collaborate with Strategy, Forecasting, and other stakeholders within the company to achieve common goals and objectives. Collaborate with the Subtransmission and Transmission technical grid assessments to inform policy advocacy around Transmission, Subtransmission, Distribution, and resource needs, including scenarios and potential for proactive build. Lead by example, maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison's safety protocols and safe work practices in addition to providing support with all other duties assigned. Qualifications
The essentials
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Science, or related technical discipline. Seven (7) or more years of technical experience in distribution, substation, and/or transmission engineering related to system planning, field engineering, and/or grid operations.
The preferred
Master's degree in Electrical engineering or a related technical discipline. Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience supporting the development of testimony for regulatory proceedings and environmental licensing. Familiarity with industry committees, subcommittees, working groups, and task forces as it pertains to Transmission and Distribution planning. Experience using GE PSLF and/or PowerWorld simulation software. Engineering experience related to modeling and performing power system analyses on transmission systems (i.e., typically 220 kV and 500 kV). CA Professional Engineering License in Electrical Engineering.
You should know
This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
