Eaton's Electrical Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure Division is currently seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our team. This position will be a hybrid office role as long as you live within 50 miles of our Raleigh, NC facility. Relocation benefits will be provided within the United States only.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $83,997 - $123,195 a year.

What you'll do:
Collaborate with local and global engineering teams in the development, test, and release of firmware for CPDI product lines and technology development projects. Own design and development of product features. Write and maintain functional specifications of design solutions. Embedded software development using C, C++ for ARM / DSP processors for three phase power systems using agile processes. Work with control system experts to develop algorithms that controls Inverters, Rectifiers and DC/DC converters. Analyze the power system architecture and requirements to develop technical solutions to achieve product requirements.Develop firmware that meets coding standards and product design requirements. Document and formally release embedded software following company procedures. Develop test plans and monitor test results. Lead firmware and functional design reviews at various product development stages Keep track of latest embedded software strategies, processes, and tools. Apply knowledge to power electronic applications.
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution with minimum three (3) years work experience in embedded software development OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years work experience in embedded software development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive experience in developing, coding, and troubleshooting real-time software. Basic understanding of power electronics.Extensive experience programming in C, C++, in an embedded environment. Basic understanding of control theory (MATLAB/Simulink/PLECS).Understanding of analog and digital circuitry. Experience in design of complex state machines and closed loop controls. Design experience with UPS and/or power electronic products for high reliability. Knowledge of embedded Linux. Experience in Verilog/VHDL and FPGA design.Experience with ARM processors (fixed and floating point). Knowledge of modern software development processes. Experience with version control repository hosting services such as Bitbucket or GitHub. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot analog and digital control circuitry. PCBA bring-up experience.Experience with Model-based state machine design.
Skills:
Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in firmware development consisting of state machines, control algorithms and user interfaces. Experience with version control repository hosting services such as Bitbucket, SVN, GitHub. Ability to read schematics and interpret the behavior of electronic systems. Ability to read and interpret datasheets (i.e. timing requirements and interface etc.) Experience working on Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) systems. Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications. Position requires an individual who is self-motivated, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements.
