Senior Director, Software Engineering (Engineering 360)

What you will need to bring for this position:
Experience building and leading a large team in the development and rapid delivery of developer tooling platforms and capabilities
Machine learning knowledge aimed at problems such as developer support, knowledge discovery and predictive maintenance to improve developer efficiency and operational excellence.
Experience in delivery of software that has many human operational touch points
Strong data skills to be able to lead through system of record conversations as well as the timing of data
A history of embracing and incubating emerging technology and open source products
Recruit, motivate, mentor, and lead the best application engineering talent
Customer first attitude
Innovative thinking with a passion for problem-solving
Ability to provide a logical framework to support conclusions and ideas.
Great attitude, team player and energy amplifier. Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and technologies
Take ideas and concepts, and visualize them in ways such that they are communicated effectively and compellingly for internal leaders, partners and customers
Understanding of ways to lead a team developing in an Agile environment
Extend solutions from various points on the software maturity curve
Integration of internally built and Vendor applications
Experience leading DevOps or Site reliability engineering teams including: AWS, developer tooling, CICD, observability, metrics, incident response and analysis, chaos engineering and cloud cost optimization.
Responsibilities:
Lead a large technical teams
Lead the definition of new capabilities, guiding the technical architecture and needs to deliver functions spanning people, process and technology
Partner with Business Leaders to shape and prioritize initiatives
Manage the expectations of a diverse stakeholder group as it relates to progress towards delivery
Partner with vendors who provide key capabilities and ensure there are adequate roadmaps to the future and coverage for the current state
Support the broader Card LOB through communities of practice, knowledge sharing and collaborative problem solving
Be an evangelist and champion for developer tooling across Card Tech to bring the voice of the developer to the tooling team and drive broader adoptionCollaborate cross functionally with other areas of Card Tech and Capital One to find holistic solutions that deliver the right associate and client experience
Find the best solution across the firm and leverage it.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 9 years experience in software development
At least 7 years experience of people management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree
5+ years' experience in Agile practices
2+ years' experience with Amazon Web Services

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $321,500 - $366,900 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering
San Francisco, California (Hybrid On-Site): $340,500 - $388,700 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
