The Senior Director of the Regional Marketing Executive (RME) team will play a critical role in building and leading Blueprint Medicines’ RME team as we continue to expand our presence in Systemic Mastocytosis (SM). You will be responsible for leading the national team focused on key customer engagement, speaker management, and local patient programs while being a key member of the Marketing leadership team. You will work as a close collaborator with other HQ & cross-functional field leaders, directing the team on how to execute brand strategic imperatives at the local level and will report to the Vice President of Commercial Strategy and Marketing.
Location is flexible, regular travel to the office will be expected.
What will you do?
Build and maintain external relationships with physicians and thought leaders – identifying and moving them across the continuum to become SM Champions Maintain understanding of national market dynamics, including key opinion leaders, institutional accounts, multi-disciplinary teams, and community referral patterns. Routinely sharing insights with all Blueprint Medicines stakeholders. Coach team through creation of regional marketing plans, clearly outlining performance metrics Lead team responsible for delivering on long-term portfolio objectives, including building effective multi-disciplinary teams spanning SM patient touch points (e.g. Hematology, Allergy/Immunology, Hematopathology) Collaborate with other internal field team leads (portfolio sales, diagnostics, medical, market access) to ensure alignment of roles and responsibilities across all business functions to deliver franchise objectives. Develops, leads and facilitates team National meetings, alongside HQ-based marketing team. Conduct regular field visits to effectively coach the execution of brand strategy and use of approved resources and to uncover new opportunities. Hiring, training, retention and professional development of national field marketing team Ensure a high level of SM clinical acumen. Applies appropriate performance management and accountability measures. Contribute to the building and communication of incentive plans for the team and monitor quarterly performance targets. Acts with integrity and is a role model to the team. Sets clear expectations regarding ethical behavior and strict adherence to compliance standards. Partners closely with compliance on ongoing guidance and training for the team.
What minimum qualifications do we require?
Bachelor’s degree required Minimum 10 years of pharmaceutical sales management or commercial leadership experience, preferably in hematology/oncology, allergy, and/or rare disease areas Direct people management experience required Field/Regional Marketing and/or Key Opinion/Thought Leader management experience required
What additional qualifications will make you a stronger candidate?
Team leadership experience Headquarters marketing or similar type headquarters role experience Product launch experience Rare disease, in particular in hematology or allergy/immunology experience preferred Cross functional experience, including partnering with marketing to build brand strategy and partnership with field teams for cross functional collaboration across local/regional teams. Demonstrated success with building high performing field teams from scratch in a true “start-up” environment Proven track record of employee development and performance management Ability to travel within the US on a regular basis which may include overnight and weekend travel Excellent leadership coaching and performance management abilities Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing environment Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to mine insights from team and clear communicate back a synthesized perspective Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with cross functional partners and seek creative solutions to barriers Skilled in identifying opportunities and threats to the business, while operating with a high sense of urgency Commitment to our Core Values: Patients First, Thoughtfulness, Urgency, Trust, Optimism
