About Senior Director of Individual and Major Gifts NYC

  iMentor is seeking an entrepreneurial and seasoned Senior Director – Individual and Major Gifts to design and execute a comprehensive individual giving strategy for our New York City region. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of iMentor NYC, this role will steward the region’s annual development plan around individual giving, including systematically targeting, cultivating, and soliciting prospects and individual donors from iMentor’s robust networks of board members, volunteer leaders, supporters, and thousands of mentors.  Joining our six-person regional development team, the Senior Director will play a key role in expanding our individual giving revenue stream and major gifts pipeline and supporting the overall fundraising strategy for the region.

   

  This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with extensive individual fundraising expertise at the five and six-figure level, a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal partners, and a deep belief in iMentor’s mission. The ideal candidate will be a creative and enthusiastic contributor in implementing the vision, strategy, and direction of the individual revenue stream.   About the Team

   

  Join a collaborative and communicative team of six development professionals at iMentor. We thrive on creativity, integration, and a highly matrixed approach to our work. As a team player, you'll have the flexibility to collaborate across the organization, contributing to the success of our dynamic, high-performing team. As part of the iMentor NYC development team, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with an engaged board, build and grow a strategic portfolio, and work with a community poised for substantial impact and growth.

  Strategy, Development & ExecutionServe as a primary strategist and central relationship manager of donors in the portfolio while systematically deepening engagement and retaining and upgrading their year-over-year support.Work with Executive Director and volunteer leadership to identify and curate a portfolio of individual giving strategies; grow the major gifts portfolio (currently at $500,000), with an emphasis on multi-year commitments.

  Prospect Research & SolicitationConduct prospect research to identify and build a robust donor pipeline, building the individual funder pool to 50-75 major donors.Maintain a robust external meeting schedule in support of NYC-area donor cultivation.Utilize prospecting resources and identified supporters– including the Regional Advisory Board, volunteer mentors, and Young Executive Board members - to contribute to a sustainable individual giving strategy.Create and implement a multi-tiered communications strategy for donors and prospects; Establish a strong external and inspiring fundraising pitch that attracts new donors to support our work. Execute on general fundraising operations and stewardship of individual donors and prospects by capturing relevant donor and prospect information in Salesforce.

  Event Leadership Work alongside iMentor and voluntary board leadership at the regional and national level to support the planning and execution of an annual fundraising event.Design a program of small cultivation events to attract and steward donors (e.g. regional giving circles).

  Staff Leadership & CollaborationLead and invest in the professional growth of the team; Manage the Associate Director of Individual Giving and Major Gifts to build strategy and vision for engaging Young Executive Board (YEB) and peer to peer fundraising campaigns, e.g. the annual iMentor Holiday Giving Challenge.Cultivate best practices for individual fundraising, in collaboration with counterparts in iMentor’s Chicago, Baltimore regions, and the National Development team.

  Qualifications8-10 years of fundraising experience, including experience launching, growing, and/or managing an individual and major gift portfolio Entrepreneurial spirit with a track record of building initiatives from scratchFlexibility and maturity to work autonomously to build new opportunities, while collaborating with a team to execute.Deep commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and aligned in thought and action with iMentor's mission and valuesSupervisory experience with demonstrated examples of investing in the personal growth of a team. Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate a persuasive case for supportSome fundraising event experience preferredExperience working in Salesforce or other CRM fundraising systems.Bachelor’s degree requiredEmployment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory fingerprinting and criminal background check, conducted by the Division of Human Resources at the New York City Department of Education
