GEICO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist (ML/NLP) to join our AI solutions team. In this role, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions that support virtual assistants, document understanding, personalized search & recommendation experiences, etc. to enhance the overall customer experience in business areas such as sales, service, underwriting and claims.
Responsibilities: Modeling : Lead the development and implementation of NLP algorithms & models to drive key business use cases Data mining: Utilize NLP technologies to extract insights from customer interactions, including chat logs, emails, forms, documents etc. Solution & System Development: Build and improve real-time NLP systems (e.g. virtual assistants) that respond to customer inquiries, incorporate contextual knowledge and provide personalized and relevant recommendations. R&D: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in NLP/NLU/NLG and identify appropriate business use cases to apply them. Technical leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and operations teams, to gather requirements and formulate them into NLP solutions Communication: Lead interactions with business and tech stakeholders to present findings, insights, and recommendations to in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and through reports or presentations. Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior data scientists, providing technical expertise and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning. Requirements:
Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field4+ years of proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing AI/ML solutions, with at least 3 years in NLP models and algorithms Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and expertise in relevant NLP and deep learning libraries and frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spacy, langchain)Demonstrated experience developing and applying NLP techniques (e.g. LLM, transformers, embeddings, topic models) to relevant use cases (NER, Q&A, document summarization/classification, text generation, sentiment analysis, semantic search)Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure) and big data processing tools (e.g. Apache Spark, Snowflake)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on complex challenges and deliver impactful solutions.Strong sense of curiosity and ability to self-learn; willingness to research, design, test & productize novel solutions and learn from open-ended experimentsExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.Preferred:4+ years of experience designing, developing, evaluating, and deploying real-time ML/NLP solutionsStrong experience building virtual assistants, chatbots, or conversational agentsExperience with GPU-based model training and inference infrastructure and architectureExperience with search relevancy engineering and/or recommendation systemsExperience with responsible/trustworthy AI methodologies in NLP solutionsExperience with the insurance industry is a plusBenefits:
