About the Opportunity
Jacobs is currently recruiting for a Senior C&I Engineer to join our Nuclear Power and Engineering Technical Services (NPETS) business. NPETS is entering an exciting phase of opportunity by supporting our key client’s UK nuclear fleet through a business transformation, and by supporting many small and advanced modular reactor developers to develop their designs. Our nuclear work is varied, covering Concept Development, New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling, and our capabilities are in demand across the nuclear sector.
On Joining the NPETS business in Jacobs you will be part of a global company driving innovation in multiple sectors, you will profit from the knowledge and advice available from over 350 EC&I engineers in the UK and you will be contributing to net zero carbon goals in the UK and internationally.
This role will be based at one of our UK offices (Manchester, Warrington, Newcastle, Knutsford, Gloucester, Dorchester or Didcot). We put flexibility at the heart of what we do and we’re happy to consider flexible working patterns. Key Responsibilities:
Lead projects across the project lifecycle from bid generation, through concept & detailed design development to installation & commissioning
Work on systems integration, testing and validation of PLC, SCADA and simulator systems
Demonstrate knowledge of the practical aspects of implementing engineering designs and understand the use of standards and compliance with regulatory requirements in an engineering environment
Produce high-quality technical reports
Simplify complex problems and build and maintain valuable relationships
Here's What You'll Need:
Degree qualified or equivalent (e.g. HNC/HND with significant experience) in C&I or another relevant discipline
Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body (we will support you)
An awareness of civil nuclear plant systems, structures and components and associated design and assessment guidelines (or relevant engineering principles from other highly regulated industries)
An understanding of the relevant guidelines, standards and practices (e.g., IEC 61508, 61511, 61513, 61226, ONR SAPs / TAGS)
Knowledge and experience in the systematic design lifecycle of a C&I system; including specification, design, assessment, verification, testing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of safety or process critical I&C Systems
Knowledge of high integrity hardware or software-based control systems for industrial equipment
Motivated team member with the ability to work to deadlines and communicate project progress
Good communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders
