We are searching for a correspondent to lead coverage of Russian metals, grains and other commodities.
Russia is a commodities titan: the world's biggest exporter of wheat, pig iron and agricultural fertilizer, the biggest diamond producer, the second largest platinum producer, the third largest gold, nickel, titanium and aluminium producer, the fifth largest steel producer and a major player in everything from uranium and sugar and to coal and timber.
But Russia and its biggest companies are facing the severest sanctions the West has ever imposed. Russia's economy has shown remarkable resilience and is deepening its economic partnership with China, India and Iran.
This is one of the most demanding and exhilarating roles in Reuters: At a time of momentous change, you will write the Russian commodities story for the world, explaining the big picture while ensuring Reuters provides the swiftest and most insightful coverage. You will be fluent in Russian and English, have superior writing skills on everything from snaps to deeper stories and manage the most talented team of reporters in Russia.
Based in Moscow, you will be at ease covering breaking news from Nornickel or explaining the wheat harvest and the Black Sea Grain Initiative to a distant audience. We are looking for someone who can deliver major world scoops and drive a pipeline of deeper stories that tell the tension, drama and personalities of one of the most unique commodities producers on earth.
