Job Description
A large oil and gas company is looking to hire a Senior Category Manager for a year long contract duration. In this role, the Senior Category Manager will be responsible for developing and executing category management strategies for assigned areas of spend, including but not limited to rotating equipment, compressors, MRO, approved manufacturing lists, pumps, fitters, etc., from an end-to-end perspective. You will be conducting spend analysis and market intelligence to identify and leverage key opportunities that deliver value, optimize supplier pool, and mitigate risk to the business. Its imperative that you have experience collaborating with cross functional teams, as youll be doing so with site personnel, internal and external customers, to deliver category strategies and strategic sourcing initiatives while utilizing rigorous category management tools, processes, and systems. The Senior Category Manager communicates and aligns with stakeholders as an ongoing basis regarding progress, changes, and status updates on assigned categories. Additional responsibilities and tasks include:
- Optimizing the supply base and delivering financial benefit to the business by managing assigned categories, supported by category plans and strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Executing strategic sourcing processes for assigned categories from market intelligence, business base-case, and development of scope to commercial negotiations, supplier selection, and contract execution.
- Collaborating with relevant category managers, contract administrators, and internal stakeholders to:
o a) Develop category plans and strategies
o b) Conduct ongoing market analysis and leverage supply chain knowledge to understand and articulate market trends and spend analytics
o c) Execute sourcing initiatives that are aligned to business objectives and deliver value
- Conducting economic analysis, cost modeling, TCO analysis in support of assigned strategic sourcing events & bid evaluation. Developing credible business cases for sourcing initiatives, supported by market data, commercial objectivity, and relevant business and technical factors.
Skills and Requirements
- Bachelors Degree
- 7-10 years experience in Category Management
o Experience must be specific to MRO (Maintence Repair Operations)
- Experience with commodities such as:
o MRO (Maintence Repair Operations), AML (Approved Manufacturing Lists), rotating equipment, compressors, pumps, motors etc.
- Large ERP experience (SAP, Ariba, Oracle, Coupa - any large sourcing tools)
- Excel skills, PowerPoint skills - Previous experience at a large oil and gas company in a Category Manager role null
