What You Will Contribute: This position serves asan agent for the company in the purchase of raw materials, finishedcomponents, supplies, tools and/or services, along with analyzing andscheduling purchased materials to meet manufacturing and inventory plansfor the company as required to fulfill customer on-time deliveryrequirements. Researches and recommends new/potential suppliers, partsand services with emphasis on cost reduction. Major JobDuties/Accountability: * Negotiate contracts with suppliers formaterial required by Company to meet customer requirements. Develops andcultivates good business relations with current and potential suppliers,negotiating price, terms and conditions of purchase and delivery.Effectively engages in problem resolution on such items as defectivepurchases, invoice problems, order changes and cancellations, etc.Develops on-going continuous improvement programs with major suppliers;major emphasis being cost and quality improvement. Monitors andevaluates supplier performance and implements corrective action asnecessary to meet Company quality and performance requirements. *Analyzes and schedules material purchases utilizing Advanced PlanningSystems (APS) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems. Analyzesmaterial availability, reviews and sets planning parameters and issuespurchase orders as necessary to meet production requirements and optimuminventory levels. Position requires the understanding of production andinventory control and forecasting procedures. * Plans and executessourcing strategies for products and services in conjunction withcross-functional project teams. Evaluates and analyzes supplierquotations to determine best overall value and recommends suppliers fordevelopments of new or improvements to existing products to the ProjectTeams. * Researches, recommends and selects qualified suppliers to meetCompany requirements. Promotes company\'s ISO quality requirements tosuppliers and insures compliance to standards for material purchases.The ability to read blue prints and decipher drawing and processspecifications is required. * Establishes cost standards and accountsfor variance to standard. Prepares pertinent reports as requiredadvising Management of developments affecting economic changes thatcould impact Company performance, such as commodity market conditions,supplier capacity and delivery abilities to determine risks to presentand future material availability. * Researches, formulates andrecommends changes in Company purchasing policy for approval of thePurchasing Manager. These may be in connection with quality standards,bidding procedures, supplier relations/selection etc. May confer withvarious departments such as Sales, Engineering, Quality, Accounting andManufacturing to assist in the formulation of interdepartmentalprocedures and the resolution of problems as they relate to thepurchasing functions. * Additional projects, tasks, and/or assignmentsas assigned.
