Protective’s Marketing organization includes an association business which has a team responsible for growing and supporting insurance plans offered to a targeted audience. The Senior Associate, Direct Marketing will be responsible for the oversight and delivery of all direct mail and printed collateral, while managing the annual direct marketing calendar and budget.
This role requires a collaborative leader with an organized approach and an eye for detail. The ability to work independently and be hands on with implementing programs and processes is key to success in this role.
ResponsibilitiesServes as subject matter expert on mailing requirements, pricing, promotions, and incentives. Reviews all direct mail assets to ensure creative designs are in adherence with standards and identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies. Maintains documentation of standards. Works with teammates to identify and execute A/B and multi-variate testing as well as personalization strategies to continuously optimize campaign effectiveness. Manages vendor relationships for all print collateral and direct mail campaigns, inclusive of relationship management, pricing negotiations, production schedules, proofing and approval. Oversees inventory and reorders items as necessary. Analyzes associated reporting and makes recommendations for items to be discontinued based on usage. Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, such as data privacy and opt-out requirements. Maintain high standards of quality control throughout the production and mailing process to ensure accuracy and professionalism. Conducts regular site visits to print shops to ensure quality standards are met (color calibration, paper selections, etc.).Leads the team with data analytics to create, update and maintain all target audience lists.Collaborates with marketing to measure and evaluate effectiveness of direct mail activities, including response rates, conversion rates and cost of acquisition. Works with team to refine data models for targeting, using data-driven insights to optimize future campaigns and make recommendations for continuous improvement.Develop and manage the direct mail budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets. Monitor expenses, negotiate pricing with vendors, and implement cost-saving initiatives where appropriate. Stays abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in direct mail marketing. Shares knowledge and insights with the team to inspire innovation and maintain a competitive edge.The position also performs other duties as deemed necessary in the execution of these duties and duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation: Must have a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Economics, Finance, Public Relations, Business Administration, Information Technology, or any other related field. Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in direct-response marketing working in a fast-paced and competitive market setting. This should be inclusive of proven experience in developing and delivering direct marketing strategies for a business, resulting in an increase in consumer value and revenue. Must also have knowledge of integrating the use of systems and data in offline channels, inclusive of call centers, direct, and events.The candidate must also have proven experience in direct marketing campaigns from conceptualization to its successful completion, demonstrating exceptional leadership and management skills in the process. Must also have experience in leading creation of high-quality reports and documentation for both internal and external audiences.Experienced in budget development and the establishment of procedures for the purpose of monitoring progress against the business’s plans and objectives and ensuring the best application of finances and other resources. Communication Skills: Communication skills are an important quality, both in verbal and written form. Being a collaborative position, effective execution of cross-functional and departmental duties will be highly dependent on the clarity of communication down the line.Ability to deliver reports to senior management and key stakeholders and must be well structured, clear, concise, easy to understand, and unambiguous. Must also be capable of defending the conclusions and proposals resulting from his findings/reports in an articulate and convincing manner.Analytical Skills: Must have keen interest and ability in conducting analyses of data and deriving insight from those data analyses. This should be coupled with logical thinking in approaching issues to achieve productivity gains and ongoing improvement in key processes.Must have an understanding and experience of tools and targeting systems. Experience with integrating platforms such as Eloqua, SiteCore, Simplrr, and Adobe DAM are an advantage. Microsoft Office/Software knowledge and experience are a must. Interpersonal Skills: Must be passionate about facilitating customer experience and value, be self-motivated and proactive; have an insatiable thirst for knowledge. The candidate will display creative problem-solving skills and work well with others yet be a self-starter. To be successful in this role, one must be comfortable taking calculated risks, readily embrace and lead change, and possess a high level of resilience.Leadership/People Skills: Have an ability to build positive internal and external relationships. Must be approachable, relatable, and inspire trust in others.
Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.
This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance.
