Senior Associate, Business Development - Premium Access Events
The Premium Benefits & Experiences team within Upmarket has a strong focus on building external relationships to expand our premium customer value proposition and deliver engaging customer experiences and access events to our cardholders. Our team is fast-paced and growing.
Overall responsibilities:
Our team is looking for an individual that can deliver multiple best-in-class cardholder access events, assisting with the development and management of new and existing events, premium activations and partnerships.
The ideal candidate for the Senior Associate, Business Development position will be responsible for facilitating the event planning process with superior customer service skills, a high level of professionalism, partner collaboration and willingness to handle planning and administrative details of the event. This individual will possess strong event and project management skills, and be able to successfully plan, collaborate and oversee the execution of in-person events with a diverse set of partners.
These responsibilities may include, but not limited to :
Collaborating as a strategic partner with line of business leadership, internal and external partners to develop, implement and execute events and goals
Working with internal and external partners to create detailed project plans, proposals, recommendations and leveraging subject matter expertise to provide guidance on the overall event experience
Managing pre-event components to include but not limited to partner management and directing, budget management, marketing, ticketing set-up, servicing alignment, logistics, vendor management and attendee engagement (i.e. gifting, know before you go details etc.)
Post event management to include reviewing invoices for accuracy, processing payments, conducting post-event surveys, recap presentations and debrief meetings
Support Business Development and Partnership Management efforts with business leadership
The Successful Candidate Will Have :
A proven record of achievement in their current position
Strong critical thinking and excellent problem solving skills with the ability to pivot in real time and provide clear recommendations in an ever-changing environment
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
Strong project management, time management, multitasking and organizational skills
The ability to cultivate positive relationships and influence decision-making with executives, line of business leadership and internal clients
Demonstrated awareness of in-person event production best practices and trends. Familiarity with relevant local, national and global events (including but not limited to: concerts, sporting events, theater, art, etc.).
Have a strong understanding of customer service and experience the demand of high net worth individuals, with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environment
Excellent computer and analytical skills
Basic Qualifications :
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
At least 3 years experience in event planning and event management
At least 3 years experience in budgeting and negotiating contracts
At least 3 years experience in Business Development
Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Hospitality or Event Management
At least 5 years of experience in event planning, corporate or third-party management preferred

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $114,700 - $130,900 for Sr Assoc, Business Development
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
