About the Department:
US Finance is comprised of financial professionals who oversee all financial activity, including accounting, economic policy, business insights and analytics for McDonald's USA, LLC. The Affordability and Digital Strategy Team within US Finance acts as internal strategy consultants, providing thought leadership and actionable insights to support major initiatives such as growing McDonald’s Digital Footprint, optimizing the Digital offer wallet, and supporting the evolution of our Loyalty program. We define our digital strategy by generating quantitative insights and analyzing customer behavior to ultimately improve business performance and consumer brand perceptions across our network of over 14,000 US restaurants.
About the Opportunity:
The US Digital Strategy team provides financial analysis, business insights, and strategic recommendations to support U.S. business growth. In this role, you will analyze the potential viability for App and Loyalty deal constructs and product offerings, provide key insights into restaurant profitability resulting from digital initiatives, forecast national and local financial results for these initiatives and ultimately make recommendations based on the business screens established for the initiative. After an initiative has concluded, you will also provide the financial results of each national promotion and present them to leadership and key Franchisee Committees. Other special projects can include providing financial analyses in support of the overall U.S. strategic growth plan and looking at industry and competitive trends to identify opportunities. Due to the business importance of Digital initiatives, members of this team have an outstanding opportunity to participate in cross-functional teams responsible for developing national and local marketing calendars for Digital initiatives enjoyed by many McDonald’s customers. As such you will be working and communicating with members outside of Finance, including Marketing, Menu Strategy, Supply Chain, Operations, Global Technology and Leadership Franchisees. Scenario planning, financial modeling/business analytics, communication skills, and effective cross-functional teamwork will allow you to excel in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Opportunity sizing and initiative forecasting
Evaluation of promotions and initiatives, both in test markets and on a national scale
Business performance analysis and reporting
Thought partnership and initiative management with cross-functional teams
Business case development
Framing and communicating results of analysis to various stakeholders, including senior leadership and influential owner / operators
Perform ad-hoc analysis to aid in strategic planning
Qualifications:
3+ years Consulting, Business Insights/Research, Strategy or analytical and data intensive environment required
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Prior exposure or interest in basic programming and reporting software (e.g., SQL, Alteryx, R, SAS, Tableau) preferred
High level of intellectual curiosity
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
Ability to influence others through storytelling and empathy
Strong communication skills (both oral and written) to convey complex data into clear insights
Strong quantitative focus with experience in business trend analysis, product or promotion evaluation, customer analytics, market tests or general data analysis
Strong financial acumen with a strong mind for mathematics and statistics
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities
Operates effectively in a team environment
